Ditch The Sugar/artificial Sweeteners
The average small latte with no added sugar has around 120 calories the ideal amount for a snack. But if you take it with sugar you’re adding around 16 extra calories per teaspoon.
That doesn’t sound like a lot, but given many of us already consume too much sugar in our daily diet, it could be the difference between putting on weight or not.
Artificial sweeteners aren’t much better. While they technically don’t contain calories, the research increasingly shows that they disrupt the signals that tell us when we’re full and encourage the body to store fat.
And as nutritionist Melanie McGrice told 9Honey Coach, it trains our brain and tastebuds to need sweetness, which makes it harder to resist high-sugar treats likes cakes, chocolate and lollies.
“Personally, I don’t believe that artificial sweeteners are a good option, because you’re essentially just substituting the sweetness that you’re already used to,” McGrice said.
“Some people use honey as a substitute, but in reality you’re essentially getting the same kilojoules as sugar without actually adjusting your palate to not need that sweet taste.”
If you drink your coffee with sugar, wean yourself off gradually so your taste buds don’t notice your palate will soon adjust and you’ll forget about those little sachets.

Are Lattes Okay For Weight Loss
Whether lattes are a suitable beverage for weight loss goals depends on the type and contents of the latte itself. Regular lattes are usually made with a combination of espresso and steamed milk, and while the calorie content of a regular latte without extra toppings is generally quite low, its carbohydrate content can be quite high due to the milk portion.
This means that while latte can be a part of a weight-loss diet, it should be consumed in moderation.
Excessive milk can be replaced by skimmed milk, oat milk or soy milk, which are all lower in terms of carbohydrates in comparison to regular milk. Additionally, sugar-free or low-calorie syrups or sugar-free sweeteners can be used to add sweetness to the latte without additional calories.
If you are looking for a healthier alternative, then swapping a full-fat latte for a matcha latte could be a great option. Matcha made with almond milk is a powerful antioxidant, which helps boost your metabolism.
While matcha is naturally sweet, artificial sweeteners should be avoided. However, a teaspoon of honey or maple syrup can be used.
Altogether, lattes can fit into a weight-loss plan, provided they are consumed in moderation and are made with healthier milk options or artificial sweeteners.

Is A Large Latte Just More Milk
No, a large latte is not just more milk. A latte typically consists of espresso, steamed milk, and a thin layer of foamed milk. The size of a latte will affect the proportions of espresso, steamed milk and foamed milk, with a larger size typically having more milk and a smaller size having less milk.
The amount of espresso will remain the same regardless of the size of the latte. A large latte, therefore, is not just more milk, but more milk with the same amount of espresso. For example, a regular latte would have 180 ml of steamed milk and 20 ml of espresso, while a large latte would have 230 ml of steamed milk and 20 ml of espresso.

If all of this has you curious, or if its been a while since youve had some in a latte, lets see why whole milk can be a good choice for you.

Why Is Latte So High In Calories
Latte is high in calories due to its main ingredients consisting of espresso and steamed milk. This combination produces a high-calorie beverage because of the fat content in the steamed milk. Generally, a latte contains around 2-3 shots of espresso and 8-12 ounces of steamed milk.
Depending on what type of milk you use and other additions such as flavorings, syrups, etc. , it can have anywhere from 130 to 300 calories per 8-ounce serving. Additionally, the espresso used in lattes is higher in calories due to the amount of coffee used to make it 1 shot contains around 20 calories.
Therefore, the combination of espresso and steamed milk creates a high-calorie latte.

Is A Latte More Fattening Than Coffee
When it comes to the difference between a latte and coffee in terms of their fattening qualities, the answer largely depends on the ingredients and preparations used. While coffee itself is generally a low-fat beverage, lattes often have milk as an added ingredient, which increases the calorie and fat content of the beverage.
Additionally, many commercial coffee shops add flavoring, syrups, or milks with higher fat content such as whole milk or cream, further increasing the fat content. Typically, a plain latte made with low-fat milk can contain up to 10g of fat and up to 200 calories.
That said, if you opt for a more nutritious latte such as one made with skim milk, you could be looking at significantly fewer calories and fat than one with a lot of added ingredients. Additionally, you could consider creating your own latte at home with coffee, a sugar-free syrup, and one or two teaspoons of milk, which could help you control the calorie and fat content of your beverage.
At the end of the day, there is no one-size-fits-all answer to the question of whether a latte is more fattening than coffee. It ultimately depends on the ingredients and preparations used.

In A Nutshell: A Note On Almond Milk & Coconut Milk
While my aim is for you to find whats best for you, I want to put in my two cents about milk two cents that I would spend on almond milk.
You can see that almond milk appears more frequently as a good dietary option than any other milk in the above chart. Almond milk has just as much Calcium, vitamin A, and vitamin D as cows milk. It also has one fifth the calories of whole milk , its relatively low in fat, and its the only milk listed above that has NO sugar. This all adds up or in the case of fat and sugar, prevents it from adding up to almond milk being my go-to when prioritizing my health.
While coconut milk has recently become more popular in coffee drinks, its the only milk listed above that La Vita Dolce does not carry. Its not that we have an issue with coconut milk we just have limited refrigerated storage space.
Given our limitations, we stock three non-dairy milks: almond, soy, and oat milk. Almond and soy tend to be better options when meeting customers nutritional preferences and we find oat milk to be the most neutral of the non-dairy milks. Coconut milk has less Calcium, vitamin A, and vitamin D than both almond milk and soy milk. It has more calories, fat, saturated fat, and sugar than almond milk and less protein and fiber than soy milk. Coconut milk is a great option for those whose top priority is cutting Sodium, but this isnt a concern for most of our customers. So its the one that isnt on in our limited refrigerated space.
