How to Make Ginger & Turmeric Tea – Healthy Tea Benefits – Part 2

For thousands of years, India has been the largest turmeric producer on the planet. Though today it is cultivated throughout the world, we often associate its strong flavor with Indian foods, and its ayurvedic reputation as a powerful healing agent for a myriad of conditions. With its pungent taste and bright yellow color, combined with its notable popularity as a healing agent, turmeric has earned a distinctive, and distinguished place in both the kitchen and the medicine cabinet. Turmeric may be the it food product of our times, but its ancient to modern usage in the Hindu culture spans from wedding rituals, to clothes dying, to healing salves. Today, piggy-backing on another cultures blessings is normal, and we take it for granted. For those interested in learning more about the plethora of uses for turmeric, the information is vast and readily available via the internet.

Turmeric Root Tea Health Benefits Arthritis Immunity And More

Turmeric tea is a delicious herbal beverage that offers a variety of health benefits. You have probably heard people say that turmeric is good for you. Lets take a closer look to find out exactly what benefits it provides.;

I often buy and use fresh or ground turmeric to make tea and add flavor to various dishes. Not just because of the health benefits that it provides, but also for the taste.

You can also mix turmeric root with other ingredients to create a delicious beverage. Ginger is one of my favorite ingredients to mix with it.

If you want to make things easy, you can just buy this excellent ready-made turmeric ginger tea from Buddha Teas.

In addition to tea, I often use this culinary spice to add a unique flavor to my smoothies, steamed veggies, stews, and curries. I have to say, though, when I first started studying its health benefits, it was surprising how many there are.;

This tea truly is like herbal medicine in a cup. Drinking it regularly can boost the immune system and help fight off common diseases such as arthritis and cancer.

Green Tea With Turmeric: Better Together

The health benefits of both green tea and turmeric tea are preached widely and often by wellness experts. Registered dietitian Melissa Mitri, RD, says green tea is full of antioxidants and is linked to better brain health. “Turmeric tea may also play a role in brain health and reducing the risk of dementia,” she says, adding that it’s also been linked to reducing inflammation, boosting the immune system, and lowering cholesterol levels.

There’s no argument that both teas benefit the body. A more prescient question is the effect of combining the two. According to Mitri, this is one trend that isn’t just a gimmick; there’s actually something to it. “Adding turmeric to green tea may help to boost the antioxidant and anti-inflammatory effects ,” she says. Basically, because anti-inflammatory turmeric is also high in antioxidants, she explains that it adds to green tea’s existing benefits while also bringing along its own unique perks.

Combining the two super ingredients doesn’t decrease their efficiency in any way, but Mitri says there are a couple factors to keep in mind. “If you have diabetes or are on blood thinners, speak to your doctor before consuming turmeric green tea,” she says. “Turmeric may lower blood sugar levels, especially in those that are already on insulin. Turmeric may also naturally thin your blood and so may not be safe to consume when taking blood thinners.” But for the general public, she gives this tea the green light.

Potential Risks Of Turmeric Tea

In general, turmeric tea is well-tolerated by most people. However, there are some potential risks to keep in mind:

Medication Interference

The curcumin in turmeric may lower your blood sugar or blood pressure. If you take medications for high blood pressure, like Warfarin, or diabetes, you should consult with your doctor before adding turmeric tea to your diet.;

Pregnancy Concerns

While there is little evidence to support this claim, some believe that turmeric may stimulate labor contractions. Pregnant women may want to avoid turmeric tea or speak with their doctor before drinking it.;

Bile Duct Blockages

Turmeric can increase bile production, which may cause problems for those who have had bile duct blockages, gallstones, or liver disease. Again, consult with your doctor if you have any of these conditions.

In Addition To Losing Weight Turmeric Is Also Very Useful For Women Including:

Can relieve menstrual pain

Some women experience pain during menstruation, but you may have heard of turmeric acid herbs that can relieve pain. But, indeed, itâs not just a notice from someone else.

Since Iâve tried it, curcumin content in turmeric has natural pain relief properties that work by relaxing uterine contractions causing stomach cramps. And reduces the inflow of calcium ions in uterine epithelial cells.

It can also reduce the production of prostaglandins , which are hormones that create pain during menstruation and inflammation. The benefits of turmeric are further strengthened by the antioxidant effects of tannins, sopanin, alkaloids, sesquiterpenes, and phlebotomine of java acid that soothes uterine contractions.

But even so, I recommend for women whose menstrual bleeding is heavy not to consume turmeric.

Turmeric for skin beauty

Many women often run skincare to look good, but this time want it naturally. The solution is you can use a face mask using turmeric.

Turmeric in addition to good for body health, turmeric also has great benefits to take care of skin beauty, especially for women. Antioxidants in turmeric make the appearance of the skin look even brighter and youthful.

The easiest way to get this benefit is to make a natural maker, here you can choose a turmeric mask with additional ingredients.

    What Is Turmeric And What Is It Good For

    Turmeric is an herb that’s related to ginger and grown throughout India, other parts of Asia, and Central America. This golden-hued rhizome has been used for thousands of years to treat a wide variety of ailments. A lot of those health benefits have been linked to the powerful anti-inflammatory and antioxidant properties of turmeric. Curcumin, the active compound in turmeric, has been extensively studied for its preventive health benefits and disease-fighting potential.

    Some of the conditions turmeric has been most commonly used for include:

    Inflammation is a root cause of many health conditions like heart disease, metabolic syndrome, and even cancer as well ascognitive decline, so anti-inflammatory foods like turmeric can help protect us against these ailments. Studies have also looked at the anti-aging potential of turmeric and curcumin.

    While it’s available in whole root form as well, turmeric is most commonly sold in powdered form. Capsules containing turmeric extract are also available. There’s some slight variation, but in general, turmeric powder is about 3 percent curcumin, and extracts are about 95 percent curcumin. While most clinical research studies look at turmeric extracts, consuming ½ teaspoon to 1 teaspoon of turmeric powder with food per day has been associated with health benefits, but even smaller amounts between 500 and 2,000 milligrams of turmeric per day may also provide some benefit.

    How To Customize Your Tea

    Once youve made your turmeric tea, have some fun with the recipe! I like to add a sprinkle of cinnamon, or make this a more robust tea by adding a bag of chamomile or green tea to the pot while it simmers.

    During cooler weather, Ill add a cinnamon stick for more toasty spice flavor. Try swapping the lemon juice for freshly squeezed orange juice and a pinch of ground cloves. For a fall treat, I use maple syrup instead of honey and add a dash of freshly ground nutmeg. So many options to keep it fun and interesting!

    I encourage you to try golden milk with very little added sweetener as youll drink it before bed. A small amount of raw honey or coconut crystals both work great. The sweetener is not necessarily traditional but can be used if desired. Add to the pan off the heat if using.
