Does The Starbucks Chai Tea Latte Contain Syrup

Regular chai tea latte does not contain syrup. It is usually chai tea concentrate and milk.

The syrup is an additive such as vanilla syrup in vanilla chai tea latte, or you can have a classic syrup added to your drink. I would, however, say that the chai concentrate is usually presweetened with cane sugar or honey.

Common Questions About Making Vanilla Lattes

What is in a Starbucks vanilla latte?

A Starbucks vanilla latte is made with vanilla syrup, milk, and espresso.

Are lattes sweet?

Lattes can either be sweet or not. A latte is made with steamed milk and espresso which is not a sweet drink but you can add syrups and flavors into it that make it sweet such as mocha or caramel.

How can I steam milk at home?

One of the best parts of a latte at a coffee shop is the steamed milk in the latte. The easiest way I have found to get a similar effect at home is once you have heated your milk with the vanilla, use an immersion blender to foam it up a bit before pouring into a mug.

Can I make a latte without espresso?

Yes, so there are a few different options for ways to get close to espresso. The cheapest option would be to brew quite strong coffee in a normal coffee pot which wont be exactly the same but itll work. If you have a moka pot or an aeropress coffee maker, those will get you pretty close to regular espresso. If you use the moka pot or espresso, follow the same proportions in the recipe but if you choose to go the strongly brewed coffee route, use 3/4 cups coffee and 1/2 cup milk.

Increase How Much Chai Concentrate You Use

The simple trick her is to just use a lot more concentrate than is mentioned on the label. This can often mean doubling up on the chai concentrate. This does depend on the brand that you are using, though.

Always run a taste test first. Pour half a cup of milk into a cup. Then, slowly add the chai concentrate, tasting as you go. Once you have found the right balance, you will know how much to use in the future.

Coffee Or Espresso That Is The Question

Youve had those days where you just need a pick-me-up. And what is most peoples first thought? Coffee. If youre looking for an energy boost, you might be surprised to know which Starbucks drinks actually have the most caffeine. The list below is based on a Grande size, and a quick disclaimer: These numbers are based off of Starbucks approximate nutritional information and can vary.

How To Make It

Lets start by making the chai concentrate:

Pour the amount of water into a saucepan and add the spices. I usually add the tea bags straight away and bring the mixture to a boil over high heat. Then I leave it for 5 minutes simmering and remove the tea bags.

But if youre worried about getting a bitter taste, you can bring the water and spices to a boil, simmer for 5 minutes and add the tea bags when the concentrate is already out of the heat. Then, steep for 5 minutes and remove the tea bags .

Strain the concentrate, then add vanilla extract and honey. Stir until honey dissolves into the chai mixture.

Wait for the concentrate to cool and store it in your refrigerator, in a jar with a lid.

For the Iced Chai Tea Latte:

  • Fill a glass with ice
  • Pour chai concentrate until it fills half the cup
  • Complete with milk of choice
  • Stir and serve right away.

Can I skip the spices and make it with chai tea bags?

You can make a chai concentrate using chai tea bags. Steep chai tea bags into hot water for 5 minutes. Remove bags and add vanilla syrup and honey.

Be aware that by using this hack youll lose some flavor and it will be less aromatic.

So when you order a chai tea latte, you are in fact saying tea tea latte. And that doesnât make much sense.

The real name of this drink, with its roots in India, is actually masala chai, which means mixed spiced tea. However, most menus in American coffee shops call it chai latte.

How To Make An Iced Chai Tea Latte

Now that youve got your concentrate, youre going to also need 1 cup of milk and one cup of ice cubes. Im an iced coffee drinker, so when it comes to pouring my chai tea lattes over ice, it reminds me of feeling like Im excitedly waiting for my beverage at the local coffee shop.

Only I know Im totally having more fun making my own recipes for homemade lattes! An important step is frothing your milk, which can be done over the stove in another small pot or using a milk frother or French Press.

  • Once at room temperature, pour the concentrate over the ice cubes.
  • Over medium heat, heat milk to 150 degrees Fahrenheit by checking with a food thermometer. If using a stovetop, whisk vigorously until you see foaming. If using a French Press, pump for one minute.
  • Pour foam over the chai tea concentrate and enjoy! Sprinkle with cinnamon for garnish .
  • Tip: To make this without ice, simply dont wait to mix the two mixtures together to ensure the chai latte concentrate hasnt fallen to room temperature.

As a huge latte fan, theres many times Im itching to switch it up, and you can achieve so much variety by playing with what ingredients youre grabbing during the next time you have chai tea.

Of course, what is a chai tea latte without its indulgent, frothy milk foam? Skip the pumpkin spice latte and try this, because if you like pumpkin spice, you may also take a liking to the warm chai flavor.

Sweeteners For This Vanilla Chai Latte

This vanilla chai latte is crafted to be just sweet enough! If youre used to super sugary drinks from Starbucks, you can add a little more sweetener in advance. Heres what we like to use to sweeten it just right:

    • Maple syrup. Maple syrup is our favorite natural sweetener for drinks: it adds nuance without maple flavor.
    • Simple syrup. Simple syrup has more of an intensely sweet, straightforward flavor.
    • Honey or agave syrup. These natural sweeteners also add gentle sweetness.
