As you can probably guess, this is definitely not something you would want to drink every day, says Diana Sugiuchi, R.D.N., founder of Nourish Family Nutrition. You should treat the PSL as a dessertsomething to be enjoyed occasionally as a treat, but not as an everyday coffee drink. Think of it this way: This PSL packs a whopping 55 grams of sugar for a medium. Compare that to the chains apple cider donut, which contains 15 grams of sugar. Meanwhile, the pumpkin donut has 20 grams of sugar.
She points out that the large PSL with whole milkwhich comes in at 540 calorieshas the same number of calories as a good-sized meal, plus about as many carbs as five slices of bread and twice the daily recommended serving of sugar . Smaller sizes and alternative milks like skim can bring down the total calorie count, but the amount of fat and sugar is still up there, at least for a regular indulgence.

Dunkin’ knew their devoted customers had been using secret menu hacks to MacGyver a cake-flavored coffee for a while, and now they won’t have to. The Cake Batter Signature Latte available hot or iced is officially on the menu for a limited time.
The drink starts with a cake batter-flavored syrup, which tastes like sweet, vanilla frosting, and includes espresso and your choice of milk. The iced latte is served over ice and topped with whipped cream, mocha sauce, and sprinkles. The hot version is simpler and may not include the toppings, but we’re sure you could ask for them if you want the full experience.
I snagged both a hot version and an iced version of the new latte, and both are equally tasty. The hot version is cozy and sweet, but not overly so. Mine didn’t come with any of the toppings, which is how I’d prefer it anyway. The cake batter flavor really comes through, though, without being overly saccharine the way that traditional cake batter tends to be.
As with any limited menu item, it’ll be gone before you know it, so if you’re intrigued by Dunkin’s new drink, I suggest you try it sooner rather than later so you don’t miss out.
