Difference Between Instant Powder And Ground Taro Paste

As mentioned above, there are usually two types of taro milk tea that are commonly found in boba shops. However, both can be made either with the powder or the pureed root vegetable.

Taro milk tea made with instant taro powder is usually more watery in content. It is usually more vibrant in colour because of food colouring is added. However, the drink tends to taste more fragrant.

Drinks made with fresh ground paste will typically have a thicker consistency. It also has a more granular texture due to the bits. The drink is mildly sweet and fragrant. The colour of this type of taro milk tea is usually a light purple hue.

How To Pick Taro & Purple Sweet Potato

When choosing taro, its important to note that this recipe uses LARGE taro roots. Ive seen them pre-peeled in large vacuum packages in the refrigerated produce section and also unpeeled in the produce display stands. One taro root can range anywhere from 10 inches to larger and are heavy. Inside, taro roots are white with thin purple markings throughout. When choosing a taro root, pick one that is firm throughout without any physical bruising or soft spots.

Its important not to confuse taro roots with eddoe rootsand Ive even seen some American grocery stores mislabel these two. Eddoe roots are MUCH smaller and are very slimy and completely white on the inside. Taro has a sweeter flavor, while eddoe can be slightly more bitter.

I added Okinawan purple sweet potato to this taro milk tea because I wanted a more vibrant purple coloring without using food coloring. I found this purple sweet potato at my local Filipino grocery store, Seafood City, but if you cant find any you can simply use taro only. You want to follow the same guidelines as taro, firm roots without bruising.

Bubble Tea House Company Honeydew Melon Bubble Tea Mix

If youve never had taro before, taro bubble tea is probably the best way to first try it. Taro is one of the most popular boba tea flavors and not just because it is a beautiful purple color.

Taro is a starchy root vegetable, like a potato. It tastes a tiny, tiny bit like a potato but thats not really an appetizing way to sell the flavor. Its hard to describe taro flavor using other flavors. It has a very sweet taste, with a slight hint of vanilla. In taro boba tea, there is sugar and milk added so it will taste much sweeter than eating the vegetable on its own. But no description will give the unique flavor of taro justice on its own. You just have to try it, and boba tea is the easiest way!

What Is Bubble Tea

Also known as pearl tea and boba tea, bubble tea is a name for a variety of refreshing flavored milk and fruit teas, served either piping hot or ice cold, with chewy tapioca balls that are meant to drink with a straw. So, basically, it is a combination of a drink and a snack all in one.

These teas are invented in Taiwan during the 1980s, but they have reached a global popularity only in the last couple of years. In many larger cities in the U.S., U.K., Australia and other countries there are even stores devoted entirely to bubble teas, which is a huge success for this Asian drink.

Typically, green tea, black tea, coffee or white tea make the basis of this drink, but as its popularity grows, there are many innovations in that sense, we see each day. Flavorings that are often added too bubble teas are cantaloupe, pineapple, passion fruit, strawberry, green apple, and others.

Tapioca balls are the essential ingredients of the bubble tea. However, there is a wide range of other options that are often used to achieve the similar texture, such as green pearls , and various jellies with flavors such as konjac, coconut, and mango.

I bought in 3 flavors: taro, honeydew and strawberry. I like the taro a lot and personally didnt find it overly sweet, which is nice.. The honeydew melon tastes very sweet like candy, but exactly like the one boba shop I usually go to which is nice. The strawberry flavor is a little bit rare to find in Norway, so I havent really tasted a boba like that before. Its really nice and pairs well with fresh kiwi.Aside from the flavors, I do wish it could have come with an instruction , specify the ingredients on their website and also label if its suitable for vegetarians/vegans as well. But overall, the powders are high in quality and I am looking forward to try the other flavors and Bobalifes service was excellent

I ordered the coconut, milk tea, honeydew melon, mango and coconut ones and theyre all lovely!! Im quite picky but theyre all so nice, theyre just sweet enough and the flavours arent overwhelming like some that Ive tried. My favourites so far are the milk tea and the mango as I was a bit worried about the mango one but its perfectly fruity without clashing with the milky flavour and I just cant get enough of the milk tea! 10/10 will be ordering again
