  • In a saucepan add the butter and tea blend and heat gently while stirring until the butter is melted.
  • Take off the heat and leave to cool for half an hour or so the longer you leave it to infuse, the stronger the Spiced Pumpkin Pie flavour.
  • The butter-tea mix will have solidified on cooling, so gently reheat the pan until liquid again.
  • Sieve the mixture into a mixing bowl to separate the tea leaves from the butter.
  • Press the chai with the back of a spoon to extract as much butter as you can and scrape any excess from the bottom of the sieve.
  • You can now leave the butter to re-solidify in the bowl, ready to start baking.
  • Discard the tea leaves.

Next remove the bags and add 1 cup of unsweetened coconut milk or almond milk and 2 tsp of sugar free caramel syrup to a blender, Magic Bullet or a jar with a lid and blend or shake. This will result in a colder drink. If you would like the latte to be warm, simply put the coconut or almond milk in a saucepan and bring just to a simmer. The Origin Of Hong Kong Tea

As the name says, milk tea originated in Hong Kong, going back to the British colonial rule the British tradition of afternoon tea, where black tea is served with milk and sugar, became popular in Hong Kong. Milk tea is similar, except it is made with evaporated or condensed milk instead of ordinary milk. It is called “milk tea” to distinguish it from “Chinese tea,” which is served plain. Outside of Hong Kong, it is referred to as Hong Kong-style milk tea.

The taste and texture of Hong Kong-style milk tea can be influenced by the type of milk used. For example, some Hong Kong cafés prefer using a filled milk variant, meaning it is not purely evaporated milk but a combination of skimmed milk and soybean oil instead.

The trademark “tiger sugar” is coined because of the tiger stripes formation on the cup due to the brown sugar syrup drips.

Love A Sweet Tea Then This Caramel Black Tea Frappe Will Be A Cooling Delight For Your Hot Summer Day

The first time I tried caramel tea was back in the 1990s when there were less tea shops around.

I have never been a big caramel fan. I don’t mind the taste of caramel, but it always get stuck in my teeth and the super-sweetness delivers a big dose of after-consumption guilt.

So when I found the caramel tea, I thought it could be the best way to enjoy this sugary indulgence without committing a health crime.

Caramel tea is typically a black tea with caramel flavour. If you find caramel pieces in your caramel tea, they are just for looks. They don’t contribute to the tea flavour much, but if there are a lot of them in your tea mix, it will make the tea brew cloudy and a little greasy.

Selecting Caramel tea comes down to a personal preference, as some have a sweeter, sugar fragrance / taste, and others a creamier profile.

Brewing tips: Remember just like any flavoured tea, the dried tea mix is stronger in fragrance then once the hot water is in.

The taste in most cases would not be overwhelmingly caramel like, and carry A LOT less calories than a piece of Caramel candy!
