How To Make A Lavender Latte:

Honey Lavender Instant Iced Latte With Oat Milk Recipe

Watch the video for the Lavender Simple Syrup and how to make a Lavender Latte:

If you are making my homemade Lavender Simple Syrup, start with that recipe. It takes 40 minutes, start to finish, but 30 minutes of it is just steeping. Highly Recommended for a much better taste than store bought.

Hot Latte:

  • Pour 1 ounce of Lavender Simple Syrup into a coffee cup. If it came straight out the fridge, allow it to come to room temperature for a few minutes, so it doesn’t cool your latte off quick.
  • Prepare an espresso shot and steam the milk.
  • Into the coffee cup with the syrup, pour in the espresso and Stir. Top with of the steamed milk and give it a little stir. Finally, top with remaining milk.
  • Iced Latte:

  • Prepare an espresso shot and let it cool for a few minutes.
  • Fill the glass with ice.
  • Add in 1 ounce of Lavender Simple Syrup. Then, milk and the espresso shot. Stir well and enjoy!
  • Top the lattes with whipped cream for an extra treat!

The Instant Part Of This Iced Latte Recipe Comes From The Use Of Instant Coffee Instead Of Espresso

Espresso is traditionally used when making lattes . If youre not familiar with this term, espresso is basically concentrated coffee produced when hot water is forced through very fine coffee grounds . This process is most often achieved with a machine.

However, knowing that not everyone has access to an espresso machine at home, there are several substitutions you can use to make and enjoy your own DIY lattes at home. One excellent substitution is instant coffee. Now, you might be thinking that instant coffee is quite different than espresso. But if you prepare it with the right technique, you can create an espresso-like concentrate.

An espresso-like concentrate is simply an extra strong cup of coffee that mimics the taste and strength of a shot of espresso. The directions for how to prepare instant coffee this way can be found below, but first lets talk about how to choose the right type of instant coffee for the best iced latte flavors.

How To Make Honey Lavender Syrup

I dont know about you, but in the morning Im not looking to go through a whole lot of steps to get me to my first caffeine boost.

Luckily, this iced latte recipe is easy to make, and the lavender honey simple syrup can be made ahead of time, leaving you with less prep work and more lattes throughout the week!

Make the simple syrup by combining the honey, dried lavender flowers, and water in a small saucepan. Bring to a simmer until the honey has dissolved. Let the syrup sit for 20-40 minutes to allow the lavender to fully infuse into the mixture. Taste test along the way to determine how infused youd like it to be.

Once the simple syrup is ready, strain it through a fine mesh sieve to remove all the lavender flowers. Store it in an airtight container in the fridge until youre ready to use.

Its not just for iced lattes! Use the simple syrup in hot coffee, to sweeten cold brew, or in cocktails!

    How To Make Iced Coffee

Lets start with the basics. If you dont have cold brew coffee at home, how do you actually make iced coffee?

In this example I made this drink as a latte. I used my latte machine to brew espresso, then left the espresso in the fridge for about 15 minutes. After that, it was ready to pour into a glass and then add milk.

If you dont have an espresso machine, you can also get espresso K-cups or pods .

    Where To Get Lavender

    It

Its actually insanely simple to get lavender. Dried lavender works really well so I tend to buy it in bulk and use a few stalks every week or so for a new recipe.

! The cost was about $25 but this one bouquet will literally last me for 6 months, making a recipe every week or two weeks.

You can also used flavored lavender drops, but I recommend getting dried lavender if possible the flavor is much more subtle and realistic. Its hard to fake!

I love making the simple syrup for this recipe the smell of lavender fills up the kitchen and makes everyone feel a little happier! Its so easy and quick that sometimes Ill make the simple syrup ahead of time and use it for my coffee in the morning.

Vanilla Flavored Or Unflavored Oat Milk

Vanilla flavored oat milk will work just fine and may even add to the lavender and coffee. But some brands have a stronger flavor, so it may overpower the lavender. Also, flavored oat milk tends to have a higher sugar content, which can add even more sugar to your lavender latte. In the end, it comes down to preference.

How To Froth Oat Milk That Is Iced

While this is not required in any way for your recipe, it definitely adds a nice little touch. It also will make this feel more like the real deal from a coffee shop.

The easiest way to froth iced milk is to use a handheld frother. I use this frother from Zulays, but any handheld frother will do . It was really affordable, and I use it often. If you make lattes at home or plan to, I recommend getting one.

If you do not have a handheld frother, you can also use a mason jar to shake the oat milk until it is frothy. In fact, I suggest you shake it with the ice to give it a full shaken iced latte feel to it. This is the truest laziest method, and I am here for it.

If you want the feel of froth, but do not have a mason jar or a handheld frother, you may also use a blender. Simply add the oat milk to the blender, and blend for 20 seconds.

    Lavender Vanilla Iced Latte

While we were in Wisconsin for our anniversary trip last month, we stopped by a lavender farm shop called Island Lavender and it smelled so amazing! Lavender is one of my favorite scents, and it was really tempting to buy so many things from the shop! We did buy some lavender, and other lavender scented goodies like teas and soaps, but it also may have influenced what I ordered for flavors whenever we stopped at coffee shops along the way, because I became quite fond of lavender lattes. I am a coffee lover, so before the trip, I scoped out locally owned coffee shops to stop at every day. I ordered lavender lattes at least 4 times. Iced or hot, they are one of my favorite flavors now, and if I see one on a menu I am tempted to order it, especially during the summer. I know it sounds kinda bougie, but if you are a lavender lover like me and you have tried one I am sure you know why I love them! And as I found out last weekend, they are really easy to make at home too! Since we are still technically in summer, I made an Lavender Vanilla Iced Latte and it turned out fabulous!

The syrup is free of refined sugar and provides a light floral sweetness to these lattes. Its a fun and refreshing drink to brighten up your mornings or summer afternoons.

Well, we have already completed the first week of October, and Im still thinking about all things summer. I mean, just two short weeks ago, I was in Tennessee visiting my closest friend and her new family. I spent five days loving on her and her two new babies and it was the most amazing time for both of us. The weather was hot and very humid, and that alone kept me craving my Iced Honey Lavender Lattes that I made the week before.

Even here in Colorado, the weather has been pretty warm.the cool down didnt hit until today!

So for one final hurrah, I figured why not indulge in this again, considering I had dried lavender on hand along with a handful of fresh lavender from the garden.

Coffee Vs Espresso: How To Choose

Classic lattes are always made with espresso shots because the bold, rich flavor works well with milk. There are quite a few ways to make espresso beyond pricey espresso machines. You can use a stovetop espresso maker or AeroPress to make highly concentrated coffee. Or read our tips for making your brewed coffee as strong as possible!

Combine The Instant Coffee With Only 2 Ounces Of Water To Make An Espresso

After youve prepared the honey lavender simple syrup, you can begin the process for making the Instant Iced Honey Lavender Iced Latte. Dont worry, this part goes much quicker than the syrup-making process.

In order to prepare instant coffee for an iced latte, you will be creating an espresso-like concentrate as mentioned above. To do this, you will simply combine the instant coffee with less hot water than normal. Typically, you would use about 1 to 2 teaspoons of instant coffee with about 6 ounces of boiling water to make a cup of coffee. To make an espresso-concentrate, you will use about 2 teaspoons of instant coffee with 2 ounces of boiling water. This 2 ounces of water is equivalent to 1/4 cup.

This creates that very strong coffee concentrate that mimics the strength of espresso essential for making a latte. Mix the water and instant coffee in a small glass. Set this glass aside while you grab the honey lavender syrup from the fridge.
