New Teas 7 Question Types

TEAS 6 had only one type of question format: multiple choice. The TEAS 7 will have five different question types: multiple-choice, multiple-select, fill-in, ordering, and hot spots.

Again, these new question types are meant to mimic the next-gen NCLEX.

Heres the breakdown of the new types of questions weve seen so far. Please remember that this is the most up-to-date information we have. The examples provided below help you understand how a question could be asked, but are NOT actual questions you will see on your exam.

Take Care Of Yourself

Its important for the test-taker to take care of their own health and well-being. Its not mentally or physically healthy to spend every waking hour studying and preparing. That kind of stress can lead to catching a cold or virus right before the test â no fun! One should eat well, drink lots of water, exercise, and get plenty of sleep. Dont forget to spend some time with loved ones as well. Its all about balance. These actions will help one focus during material review as well as during the exam.

The TEAS test is a multiple-choice exam that includes four sections. The test consists of 170 questions and has a time limit of three hours and 29 minutes . Out of 170 questions, 20 questions use for internal test purposes and are not graded. The TEAS time limits are:

    • Reading: 64 minutes- 53 questions
    • Mathematics: 54 minutes- 36 questions
    • Science: 63 minutes- 53 questions
    • English and Language Usage: 28 minutes- 28 questions

If you need to rest, use the restroom, or for any other reason, you should raise your hand to get permission to do so. The time you spend on this optional break is calculated against your test time. Therefore, it is strongly recommended that you never take a break, except for the 10-minute break given after the math section.

Introduction: What Is Teas And What Does It Measure

TEAS Test Scores: What is a good TEAS Score?

ATI is the company that, among other things, constructs and authors the Test of Essential Academic Skills . The TEAS measures and assesses a person’s ability to be academically prepared to enter and succeed in nursing school. The data from this test is highly useful and helpful to those considering entering a nursing school and it is also helpful to nursing programs who use TEAS scores as part of their admission criteria. People who are interested in embarking on a career in nursing want to be able to successfully graduate from a nursing school without failure and schools of nursing want to provide quality education to those who are able to succeed in and graduate from their school of nursing. This standardized test also gives test-takers valid and reliable data that reflects their strengths, their weaknesses, their areas that need improvement and remediation, and their readiness or the lack of readiness, to begin nursing school.
