Hawk Tea Contains Little Caffeine And Abundant Flavonoids

This Herbal Tea Proven To Lower ‘Bad’ Cholesterol Levels | MedMD

Thus far, we concluded that hawk tea works as a cholesterol-lowering agent through a multi-target mode: promoting LDLR-mediated LDL clearance by inhibiting NPC1L1-mediated free cholesterol uptake and inhibiting VLDL production by repressing HNF4-mediated MTP and APOB expression in addition, gut microbiota also contributed to its cholesterol-lowering function. To identify the active components in hawk tea, we collected six batches of hawk teas and analyzed the varieties and contents of pure caffeine and polyphenols, using liquid chromatography-tandem mass spectrometry . We also included six batches of two kinds of Camellia tea, green teas and black teas, for comparisons. The retention times, quantitative ion pairs, declustering potentials, collision energy, and cell exit potential of the tested compounds are listed in Supplementary Table .

The composition of HTE could be reliably reproduced, and the batch-to-batch variations for most components were < 10% . The caffeine content in green teas and black teas was 2542.93±203.48 and 2297.13±126.03gg1, respectively . However, there was little caffeine in hawk teas . As mentioned above, high levels of caffeine may cause side effects like sleep deprivation and anxiety. Therefore, hawk tea is superior to green or black tea in safeness for caffeine-sensitive populations.

Chamomile Tea: Sleep Enabler

Though herbal teas do not come from the traditional tea plant, they still have some health benefits, says Brill of soothing herbal teas like linden or chamomile. These teas help with a less-direct, but still crucially important, benefit for cardiac wellness: sleep. One of the things many of my patients have issues with is getting enough sleep, says Steinbaum. Sleep is such an important part of restorative health for everyone. I tell people to get into the habit of having a nighttime routine to wind down, and include a cup of warm chamomile tea right before bed.

Patients with a coronary artery stent, or who are taking aspirin or Coumadin blood thinners, should consult their doctor before drinking chamomile tea, because it may increase risk for internal bleeding.

Matcha Tea Health Benefits

You hear a lot about this trendy drink these days, but is matcha tea good for you? And, if so, what are the specific matcha tea health benefits?

Before we get into that, lets take a look back. Although matcha tea is indeed trendy, it can be traced a full thousand years back to the Tang Dynasty in China. Matcha eventually made its way to Japan, where it became part of the traditional tea ceremony built on the principles of harmony, respect, purity and tranquility.

Who Can Take Supplements

Researchers are still seeking to confirm the benefits of supplements in treating high cholesterol. For this reason, it remains unclear who can or cannot take them. In general, they are considered safer to use in younger people with no history of serious heart-related illness or risk.

However, all people should speak to a healthcare provider before taking supplements.

One reason for this is because your own medical history may include other health conditions that may be affected by taking an herb or nutritional supplement.

Another concern may be the potential for interaction with any drugs you already take.

Top 10 Tea To Lower Cholesterol of 2020

Though ginseng has not been formally evaluated by the Food and Drug Administration, drinking it may potentially give a boost to your heart. Studies do support that ginseng may lower blood pressure by relaxing the arteries, says Day. It thins the blood by blocking platelet adhesion, and it may improve cholesterol profiles. Palinski-Wade says to consider ginseng tea a tasty replacement for a more sugary beverage, which also has heart-boosting benefits. Replace that sugar-loaded sweet tea with a glass of brewed ginseng tea instead. Not only will this provide you with a slimming benefit, but it will also reduce your intake of excess sugar, which can damage your heart, she says.

As with most teas, talk to your doctor if youre taking blood thinners like Coumadin or anti-platelet drugs such as Plavix .

There is an active compound in green tea called EGCGor epigallocatechin-3-gallate. It has been observed that EGCG has an effect on a protein called apolipoprotein A-1.

This protein sticks to the fatty buildup in arteries when an individual suffers from atherosclerosis. Thereby, worsening the condition.

It has been found that EGCG breaks down the protein apolipoprotein A-1 and lets the blood flow properly through the arteries.

This finding is quite positive but this effect is not possible by drinking just one cup of green tea a day. More research needs to be carried out in this regard.

Maybe in the years to come, EGCG can be used in developing new medicines for heart attack and stroke. Both are the leading causes of death worldwide and many people lose the battle of life because of them.

More studies will hopefully help in saving so many lives!

White tea is the least processed and is made from the plants youngest tea leaves. Green tea leaves are dried and heated to minimize fermentation. Black tea undergoes extensive fermentation. Each Camellia sinensis tea contains natural caffeine, although the caffeine can be removed.

Herbal teas arent exactly tea because theyre not made from Camellia sinensis. They are made from parts of edible plants, including the:

Green Tea And Its Effect On Cholesterol

As per the research carried out, it has been found that individuals who consumed green tea witnessed a positive effect on their cholesterol levels.

LDL cholesterol which is labeled as the bad cholesterol gets reduced while there is no change in the good cholesterol i.e. HDL.

Now bad cholesterol or LDL has been named so because it is the trouble maker when it comes to heart health.

It leads to a fatty buildup in the arteries, a condition that is called atherosclerosis.

It makes the arteries narrow thereby restricting blood flow. This increases the risk for serious medical problems like heart attack, stroke, and the like.

It has been confirmed that green tea does have the ability to lower LDL even if it is minimal. This effect is chiefly due to the antioxidants present in green tea that are called catechins.

Therefore, it is a great idea to include green tea in your heart-healthy diet. Doing something for your heart health is better than doing absolutely nothing.

While taking care of what you eat and how much you exercise every day, a cup of green tea can go a long way in the upkeep of your heart health.

On a different note, dont expect green tea to do wonders all by itself. It would be unrealistic to do that.
