I was so excited to try their tea because it sounded amazing. When I received my order, only one of the two items arrived, so I contacted them. Things happen, no big deal right? Wrong. They said they were sending out the missing product, and to expect a shipping confirmation. I them receive an email saying they processed my order, great! Followed by another email saying it was canceled. Not great. I reached out, hoping that it just meant that they had charged me for the replacement by accident and they were still sending it, but no… they canceled it. Now that product is no longer available. So they refunded the money for that, but since I paid shipping i ended up paying $11 for a tiny little sample tin. I definitely don’t be ordering from them again.

If you live in the United States, theres a decent chance you may not know about Davids Tea. While their stores are all over Canada, there are only a handful here in San Francisco, Boston, Chicago, New York, and Connecticut. I was first told about them by a Canadian friend.
It could be compared to our version of Teavana, although Davids Tea seems to get better reviews as far as customer service in their physical stores.
Modern History As City
Montreal was incorporated as a city in 1832. The opening of the Lachine Canal permitted ships to bypass the unnavigable Lachine Rapids, while the construction of the established Montreal as a major railway hub. The leaders of Montreal’s business community had started to build their homes in the from about 1850. By 1860, it was the largest municipality in and the undisputed economic and cultural centre of Canada.
In the 19th century, maintaining Montreal’s drinking water became increasingly difficult with the rapid increase in population. A majority of the drinking water was still coming from the city’s harbour, which was busy and heavily trafficked, leading to the deterioration of the water within. In the mid 1840s, the City of Montreal installed a water system that would pump water from the St. Lawrence and into . The cisterns would then be transported to the desired location. This was not the first water system of its type in Montreal, as there had been one in private ownership since 1801. In the middle of the 19th century, water distribution was carried out by “fontainiers”. The fountainiers would open and close water valves outside of buildings, as directed, all over the city. As they lacked modern plumbing systems it was impossible to connect all buildings at once and it also acted as a conservation method. However, the population was not finished rising it rose from 58,000 in 1852 to 267,000 by 1901.

I’m not a huge expert, but I’ve had both good and bad tea from David’s. Some of their straight teas are quite nice, and the “naked tea” collection is a nice overview of a number of tea types.
Many of their flavoured teas have sweeteners and other additives, which might be why you aren’t thrilled with them. Many have Stevia as a sweetener as well, which can give an aftertaste
Yeah I’ve always found their flavoured teas taste a tad… synthetic.
They have a nice selection of teas but I wouldn’t call them ‘high’ quality. I find them more in the medium quality range. What they do really well is branding and marketing – this gives them a premium quality look and feel. I do find DT fairly overpriced though and a lot of their teas do smell better than they taste.

When it comes to the selection of blends, it can be a little hit and miss depending on your tastes. In the past year or two they have been moving towards a lot of crazy fruity and desserty teas, so they end up having to either compromise the flavour or add a lot of artificial flavouring and sweetners to live up to the taste.
Personally I like to stick to the straight teas or the ones with very few ingredients. They tend to stay truer to the teas natural flavours and compliment them well.

This Company Is A Pure Scam
This company is a pure scam. Only their retail stores are quite transparent as you would be picking up your items and pay on the spot. I placed an order on the 9th of Dec because they mentioned guaranteed Christmas delivery. They charged my credit card immediately, and I was hoping that the order would arrive before the holiday. Turns out that although they charged me immediately, they never processed my order and never shipped the products I purchased. I contacted them twice via email, and called them three times spent hours. No one is going to respond you. Complete waste of time. Now I’m going to have to contact my credit card company, report a fraud and get my money back. Please stay away from these scammers.
