Teas Test Format Overview
The TEAS test is a multiple choice exam that contains four sections. The overall test contains 170 questions and has a three hour and 29 minute time limit. Of the 170 total questions, 20 questions are used for internal testing purposes and not scored. The TEAS subtest and time limits are:

How Many Times May I Take The Teas
You may take the test twice per application period. The Nursing Admissions office will use the highest score of your two attempts. Any more than two attempts will not be considered for admission. You are required to pay for the test each time you take the test. We do not have a time requirement between attempts, but we do recommend that you allow yourself sufficient time for remediation and re-test preparation.

How Do I Submit My Score
You must request that ATI Testing send your TEAS transcript to Towson University.The method for requesting your TEAS transcript will vary based on whether you take the test at a testing center or online through ATI. Visit the TEAS transcript site to learn more about how to send your score depending on the method of testing.
You are responsible for making sure that your transcript is sent to TU.Scores must come directly from ATI Testing submissions from students will not be accepted.

How Long Does The Teas Test Take
Although the test time is exactly 209 minutes, all test takers will be given a 10 minute break after the Mathematics section of the test, which is the second of the four sections in the examination. These 10 minutes are NOT considered part of the 209 minutes allocated for the test.
If there is a need for you to take a break, to use the restroom or for any other reason, you must raise your hand to get permission to do so. The time you spend taking this optional break will be counted against your test time. It is, therefore, highly recommended that you not take any breaks other than the 10-minute break all are given after the Mathematics section.

We recommend that you register at least two weeks ahead of time, however, many students are registered and studying at least four weeks in advance.
What Score Do I Need To Pass
The TEAS is not a pass or fail test. Based on your total score between 0-100%, you are assigned an Academic Prepared Level of basic, proficient, advanced, or exemplary. The minimum required for admission is a total score ranked as proficient. However, students should aim for higher than the minimum to be competitive. On average, a competitive TEAS score is at least 85%-86%.

How Many Times Can You Take The Teas Test In Texas
Students are allowed a maximum of two attempts of the ATI TEAS exam per application cycle. You must allow at least 30 days between your first attempt and your second attempt. Only the Nursing version of the ATI TEAS exam will be accepted. The Allied Health version of the ATI TEAS will not be accepted.

How To Study For The Teas Test
You can find many ways to prepare for the TEAS test. You can come up with your own study plan that suits your schedule, or you can keep yourself on track with ATI’s provided study plan. Identify your own strengths and weaknesses, and focus on the subject areas where you struggle or have known weaknesses.
Many organizations provide published study guides and full-length practice exams to help students. You might find these TEAS test guides at your local or school libraries for free. More independent test-takers might prefer to read a study guide book and make their own flash cards.
In addition, students can take advantage of school resources. “I often recommend turning to your network of instructors or in-school student resource centers,” Amiel advises.
Amiel suggests looking for these services at your school or college: “For example, do any of your college instructors offer reading, math, science and English and language usage tutoring? Five How To Prepare For The Teas Exam
Allow yourself a minimum of 6 weeks to prepare for the exam. There are also many study resources available for purchase and for free on the website. ATI has a recommended study plan for students taking the TEAS:
- Week 1: English and Language usage
- Week 2: Reading
- Week 5: Science
- Week 6: Math
Each subject can be studied using a manual, lessons, pre-tests, post-tests, quizzes, and practice assessments. Depending on your comfort level in a particular subject, you may want to spend more time on some subjects and less on others. However, the ATI recommended study plan includes recommended hours of study as well.
