A Cup Of Christmas Cheer
I was running boring mid-week errands along Bloor street yesterday afternoon, when the cold and grey weather finally got the best of me. I stepped into Davids Tea for a second to grab a cup of tea and warm up for a bitand ended up catching the Christmas Spirit and treating myself to a beautiful gold measuring spoon and a tin of festive Candy Cane Crush tea.
The Christmas music and the beautiful holiday sets put me in a festive mood and I walked back home quietly humming Jingle Bells. Now that Ive had a chance to try my new tea, Im even more excited for the festive season.
The Davids TeaGold Perfect Spoon is a luxurious take on the classic Davids Tea measuring spoon, which picks up just the right amount of tea to brew a cup. It makes teatime easy, and the beautiful gold coating makes every cup feel special. Ive been meaning to pick up the classic spoon for the longest time, so I dont feel too bad splurging on this one, especially because I will use it every day for years to come.
TheDavids Tea Candy Cane Crushis a loose leaf black tea with bits of candy cane, white chocolate chips, and snowflakes sprinkles that comes in a festive prepackaged tin. Yes, I bought myself a gift tin I was in a very festive mood.
This seasonal tea is what the holidays are all about for me. Its plaid blankets by the fire and a good book, its playing board games inside when it snows. Its gorgeous.

Davidstea Candy Cane Crush Vs Teavana White Chocolate Peppermint
Teavanas White Chocolate Peppermint tea has been a Christmas fave of mine for a few years, but now that DAVIDsTEA Candy Cane Crush is available, how do they stack up? Here is my comparison of the two teas .
While both are white chocolate peppermint teas, the major difference is of course, the tea base. Candy Cane Crush has a black tea base and so is caffeinated while Teavanas White Chocolate Peppermint is rooibos and caffeine free so more suitable for evening drinking. Not that caffeine stops me drinking teas later in the day personally, but for many it does make a difference.
DAVIDsTEA Candy Cane Crush Review
First, I find DAVIDsTEA Candy Cane Crush more visually appealing compared to White Chocolate Peppermint. The white chocolate drops just seem more like chocolate even if they take longer to melt and the pieces of candy cane and snowflakes just seem more Christmassy.
The chocolate melts to make the tea look like milk has been added and it has a thick feel to the tea. There seems to be some vanilla in it to calm the mint which makes it more drinkable for those who are not huge mint lovers. The mint is much milder than say Snow Day but enough that the black tea base is barely recognizable. To be fair, you dont taste the rooibos in Teavanas White Chocolate Peppermint either.
Personally, I do prefer it as a latte. The same is true for White Chocolate Peppermint. Something about the richer taste of a latte with these rich teas is just perfect.

Davids Tea Candy Cane Crush
This is one of several festive teas launched at Davids Tea in November 2017. Candy Cane Crush is a black tea blend that comes out each year during the pre-holiday season.
If you love candy canes and sweet teas, this blend is full of chunks of actual candy cane, plus tons of snowflake-shaped sprinkles and white chocolate chips and it has a moderate kick of caffeine. Due to the creamy white chocolate, this tea has a mouthfeel that is richer than regular tea, which may appeal to coffee drinkers who like a more bodied hot beverage.
And if you are counting calories during the pre-Christmas season or watching your sugar intake this sweet black tea, despite being chock full of candy bits, contains only 5 calories per cup and 2 g of sugar. My guess is that these nutritional values are per 1 Perfect Teaspoon of loose tea .
