Where To Buy Tapioca Pearls
Many of your large chain grocery stores carry the tapioca pearls. You can find them in Walmart, Target, and are also able to order them from Amazon.
If you shop at a local grocery store, check the baking aisle and if you do not see them, ask a store representative if they stock them.
Walmart carries several varieties such as black, green and the wide straw bubble tea ingredients. You can buy this product as a single pack, in a pack of three, or in the 3-pack variety package.
If you check a local Asian grocery store, you may find this product in the dry goods section where they sell spices, starches, and flour products.
It is much easier to find in other grocery stores, so if you go to the Asian market looking, you may want to check at the counter where they keep their tapioca pearls.
Now you know where to find the tapioca pearls at your local grocery store, will they be added to your next grocery list?
Flavors Of Bubble Tea
While all of the other ingredients form the base for bubble tea , the true flavor comes from the flavoring ingredient such as a syrup or powder. Just as coffee houses will have a line up of syrup bottles to flavor lattes, bubble tea shops are stocked with a great variety of syrups and powders.
Flavored simple syrups are the more popular flavoring option because they mix easily into the cold milk tea. Some popular fruity options include:

How To Make Bubble Tea
Bubble tea is one of my favorite things to sip on during the summer. Originating from Taiwan, bubble tea usually consists of sweetened tea with milk and the characteristic chewy tapioca balls, also known as boba . Bubble tea comes in many flavors: plain tea flavors such as black or jasmine tea fruit flavors such as strawberry or honeydew and even taro, which is a root vegetable commonly used in Asian dishes. .
While I enjoy drinking bubble tea, I dont particularly like the ones sold in the teahouse chains because they contain too much sugar. The good thing is that you can make bubble tea at home easily! In this bubble tea recipe, all you really need is tea, tapioca pearls, milk, and a sweetener.
Faq And Tips For Making Tapioca Pearls
- Use tapioca pearls within a few hours. Tapioca pearls are best if used within a few hours of cooking . They will get mushy. Make a smaller batch if you are worried about having extras.
- How to store cooked tapioca pearls. If you do have extra, you can store them in an airtight container at room temperature. Cover and fully coat them in the honey syrup so that they don’t stick to each other. But again, you need to consume them within 4 hours before they start to get mushy. Do not store in the refrigerator as they will harden.
- Why are my pearls too soft? This will happen if they are overcooked, or if they have been sitting out for over 4 hours.
- Why are my pearls too hard? This will happen if they are undercooked or if stored in the refrigerator.

Types Of Milk In Bubble Tea
Milk and milk-like ingredients are often added to give bubble tea a creamy texture and flavor. Different flavors and styles of dairy and dairy-like ingredients may be used.
Some of the tart fruit-flavored bubble teas are only available without milk because the acidity of the fruit syrup can curdle the milk.
What Equipment And Supplies Do You Need To Open A Bubble Tea Shop
To open a boba tea store you will need some basic supplies and equipment like cups and straws, utensils a Sealing Machine, Shaking Machine and Fructose Dispenser. Depending on the budget of your store you can start with custom cups and all of the machines or if youre on a low budget you can start with clear cups and just a sealer machine. Custom cups and other machines can be added later once your business starts to grow.
The most basic bubble tea machines are a Sealer Machine, Shaker Machine and Fructose Dispenser. We also carry Automatic Boba Cookers, Tapioca Pearl Makers blenders and Automatic Tea Brewers.
Sealer Machines are one of the most iconic bubble tea machines. They put a plastic seal on your plastic or paper cup which the customer then breaks open with their fat straw. This creates part of the bubble tea experience and adds to the fun of drinking bubble tea. Sealer machines can seal PP, PET and Paper cups. Just make sure that you order the correct size sealer machine and sealer film. For example, for PP cups you will need to use a 95mm Sealer Machine with PP sealer film. While with PET cups you will need to use a 98mm Universal Sealer Machine with PET sealer film.
Shaker Machines make shaking your bubble tea easy and fun. The most popular model is the SK300 table top model which is easy to use. All you need to do is plug it in, place your shaker cups in the machine and press start.

What Is Bubble Tea
Bubble tea is a style of tea drink that was created in Taiwan in the 1980s. Extremely popular in its home country, it’s now popular all over the world as well.
Basic bubble tea includes four elements: brewed tea, milk or non-dairy milk , flavor and/or sweetener, and tapioca pearls or similar boba. The mixture is typically shaken with ice and serve with a big fat straw.
Wheres The Best Boba In Seattle
The answer to this question is very subjective, and based off the 100-plus responses people have strong, highly differing opinions. Before we get to the verdict, here are some basic criteria to help you judge what makes a good cup of boba.
- How is the tea? Yes, you can get boba with nontea drinks, but the experts say that good tea is crucial to the perfect cup. Some factors to consider: How fresh does the tea taste? How strong is it? Is it bitter?
- How is the tapioca? You dont have to get tapioca, but again, this is the topping integral to the classic boba drink, and thus one of the gold standard yardsticks. Good quality tapioca is fresh and elastic stale pearls will be slightly hard, lacking the signature chewy texture. According to my colleague and boba enthusiast, Seattle Times video journalist Corinne Chin, the BEST cup of boba will have a warm bottom, as it means that theyve very recently cooked the tapioca to perfection.
- What do they offer? What are you looking for? Maybe the shop youre at specializes in a few types of milk tea. Or maybe they have a Cheesecake Factory-style endless menu with a vast variety of flavors, drink types and toppings? Not every boba shop will necessarily serve up exactly what you want.
If you want the perfect cup of tea, look no further than Chinatown International Districts Seattle Best Tea.
Other honorable mentions include Young Tea in the Chinatown International District , 20 Oz. Tea in Eastlake and Drip Tea on Capitol Hill .

Where To Buy Bubble Tea Fruit Syrup In Gta
Would anyone know where to buy bubble tea fruit syrup in Toronto, I’d like to make my own bubble tea at home. Grocery stores like T& T seem to sell the powder which has milk powder in it, which I don’t really like. I’m looking for the bubble tea fruit syrup that is used in bubble tea slushes.
Do any stores in Pacific mall sell the non-milk bubble teas? There’s also the option of walking into ten-ren or other bubble tea shops and asking if they’re willing to sell me their stock syrup, it’s a longshot though.
Bubble Tea Sugar Syrup Recipe
- 1 cup brown sugar
In a large pan, combine both the sugars and water together. Heat over medium heat and as soon as the sugar dissolves or the mixture begins to boil, remove the pan from heat. Allow it to cool and refrigerate.
You can also prepare the sugar syrup recipe in a microwave. Put equal amounts of brown and white sugars, and water in a microwave proof bowl and heat it until the sugar dissolves completely. Let it cool and then refrigerate.
You can use the sugar syrup straight away or even after a few weeks of storing it in the fridge. So what are you waiting for? Make the sugar syrup and enjoy having the bubble tea sugar syrup with your family and friends.

What Kind Of Tapioca Pearls Do You Use For Bubble Tea Recipe
I typically use this brand of tapioca pearls, which cooks in about 5 minutes. I like that these pearls cook quickly, but the texture could be better. You can find these tapioca pearls in Asian supermarkets or on.
One important thing to note about these quick-cooking tapioca pearls is that you should only cook as many as you need. The pearls stiffen as they cool, so they do not keep well overnight. However, if you leave the pearls in their cooking water, the pearls retain their soft texture for a longer time. In other words, dont drain the hot water once you are done cooking the pearls. Instead, use a slotted spoon to remove the pearls from the saucepan, and leave any excess pearls in the saucepan.
WHAT KIND OF MILK DO YOU USE? CAN THIS BE DAIRY FREE?
I prefer using whole milk the most because the rich flavor makes the beverage tastier overall. I tried a version of the bubble tea with heavy cream. While the flavor of the tea was even better than the version I made with whole milk, it felt too decadent. Perhaps using half-and-half is a good compromise?
You can also make a dairy-free version with nut milks or soy milk. I tried using canned coconut milk once, and the coconut milk left a funny feeling in my mouth. It felt as if my mouth was coated with a thin layer of coconut fat.

What Kind Of Tea Do You Use
The best kinds of tea to use are those that have a robust flavor, such as black or jasmine tea. Because you will water down the tea with milk and ice cubes, you want a strong tasting tea that will retain its flavor. I used Numis Chinese Breakfast Tea for the recipe, but any strong tea will work. Another tea blend I recommend is equal parts Assam and Ceylon tea leaves.
