Delightful Tea Delightful App
This app is well organized and easy to use. First off, the photography is great. Products are easy to find. If you cant find what you are looking for, the Search function is great. I prefer sachets over loose tea these days, so I did a search for Supreme and my favorite black tea, Supreme Breakfast, came right up in a 50-sachet size. One small modification would be to bring the Debit/Credit payment option to the first payment screen as a choice along with the Apple Pay, Google Pay, and PayPal tabs. The PayPal Tab does give a separate Debit/Credit option to people who dont have a PayPal account to use their debit or credit card. Perhaps add to the PayPal tab in parentheses , or just have a separate Debit/Credit tab. This will let people know who dont have PayPal and dont want to sign on for it yet but they can still buy their tea products with a debit or credit card. The teas taste incredible and it is nice to have an app that makes them easy to purchase! #DontWorryTeaAppy

What Makes Tea Organic
September 21, 20214 min read
For the last several decades, the demand for organic food and beverages has been on the rise. Gone are the days when society became enamored of pre-made, processed foods. While the freezer sections of todays grocery stores are certainly still well-stocked with frozen foods, there has been a pendulum swing back to the days of families desiring and seeking out more farm-fresh foods.
But organic carries more meaning than just fresh from the farm. The simplest definition of what makes food — or tea, in this case — organic is that it was grown without the use of chemicals. No artificial chemical pesticides, fungicides, fertilizers or herbicides. Generally, these practices are used by small, independent tea farmers as growing tea organically requires more attention and labor than treating the tea plants with chemicals. Harney does buy from larger estates that are certified often the smaller ones do not have the capacity to export their crops. When it is clear that a farmer is using traditional, time-tested methods of raising tea plants without chemicals, we know that tea is organic.
Here at Harney & Sons, we generally aim at 95% organic certification, although some single origin teas are 100% organic. Having said that, you may wonder, Why do farmers use artificial chemicals? Heres why:
So yes, we can avoid artificial chemicals. However, sometimes your tea suffers.

Common Tea Questions Answered
March 15, 20194 min read
Whether you are new to tea or have been drinking it for some time, it is common to have many questions as you begin to explore the world of tea in greater depth. Tea has been consumed for thousands of years and has been grown in almost every corner of the globe. With its extensive history, the tea industry can be rather intimidating to enter. We hope that our blog and Tea 101 page can be a resource for you, no matter where you are at in your tea education and that this post, in particular, can help answer some of the most commonly asked tea questions.
What is tea?
Tea is an infusion made from the dried leaves of a flowering evergreen plant camellia sinensis. Originally native to Eastern and Southern Asia, it is now grown successfully in Africa and South America, the Middle East, parts of the United States and even New Zealand. Of the four major types of teas, China is the country the produces them all, while Japan produces large quantities of green tea, Taiwan makes extravagant oolongs, and Sri Lankan & Indian estates yield great crops of black teas.
What are the different types of tea?
What is a tea blend?
Tea blends are made by combining different teas or by adding fruit, herbs, oils and spices to produce a unique flavor. Tea blends sometimes contain mildly less caffeine than non-blends because the tea leaves that are usually present in a non-blended tea have been replaced with fruits, herbs and spices.

Looking Forward To The Harvest
Matt Baum:So tell me about, youre going to harvest next, hopefully early October.
Matt Baum:You had mentioned that you were going to do stuff with every aspect of the plant, like youre going to try grounding up the roots and stuff.
Paul Harney:We are. We had some roots this year. We did not get very far, but obviously, roots is considered also a very medicinal piece of the plant.
Paul Harney:And its something we tried to get to last year, but roots obviously need to be cleaned quite well if youre going to try to use them later on.
Matt Baum:Of course.
Paul Harney:So that was a bridge too far. So this year, we hopefully will get there and dry them out and grind it into something, and see if we can figure out a use for it.
Matt Baum:See what it does, basically?
Paul Harney:Yeah. Its been fun. Its been a great project and were definitely enthusiastic about it. And were fully involved in all aspects of it. Were out there planting ourselves and all that sort of stuff, so its been a fun ride so far.
Mike Harney:Actually, we just did a video well have to send to you where its a planting from last week.
Matt Baum:Oh yeah, please. Ill add that to the post. Definitely.
Mike Harney:But yeah, so youll find that fun.
Matt Baum:Thatd be a riot, yeah.
Mike Harney:Paul, I know youve got it.
Matt Baum:Definitely. Thatd be
Mike Harney:Its got Paul. Its got a little surprise thing with Paul in there. I dont want to ruin it for you.

Where To Buy: Harney & Sons
This is a light Oolong from the Wuyishan area of northern Fujian Province. We have been buying from Mr. Chao for many years. This Spring we stopped by and saw him and his wife. This is one of the 3 teas that we bought from them. This is a cross blend between Ti Quan Yin and Huang Jin Gui, so you have nice floral notes and a bit of sweetness.

This Earl Grey variation won Harneys customer creation contest! And I see why, because its super-tasty.
Imagine, if you will, Earl Grey with lavender, oolong, and vanilla added. The contents of this tea SOUND like a sock drawer, but they work together well. The oolong adds a gentler, rounded-out tea note, and the lavender & vanilla sweeten up the citrus of the bergamot.
Ive never BEEN to London, but I like to imagine its classy, rounded-out, and fun like this. Everyones tastefully, liberally dressed there are fun activities like art museums and bookstores and the breeze is always crisp. Oh, and Im dating one of the Queens Guard with the fuzzy hats.
SO ANYWAY. Im glad this tea won the prize, because its tasty and fun. Next time you want to pretend youre in London with your fuzzy-hatted partner, get on a double-decker bus with this one

How To Prepare It
Firstly, pour hot water into a teacup. Put a Harney and Sons sencha teabag into the teacup and allow it to brew for about three to five minutes. When you brew it for a longer time, you will get more nutrients, a thicker brew, and a stronger taste.
You can add ice to your tea by all means if you like it that way. Stir and enjoy the goodness of Harney and Sons Sencha Tea.
