Potential Health Benefits Of Thai Tea

How to make THAI ICED TEA | House of X Tia #thaitea

Thai tea can be drunk as a folk remedy or enjoyed as a part of your regular diet. Thanks to its caffeine content, it can give an energy boost similar to drinking a cup of coffee. It also contains important antioxidants. Antioxidants help prevent damage to your cells that can lead to serious diseases such as cancer, cardiovascular disease, Alzheimers disease and macular degeneration .

There are a number of potential health benefits to drinking Thai Tea or any black tea regularly:

Discourages Weight Gain

Drinking black tea regularly can be a great tool to combat weight gain. Research has shown that the polyphenols in black tea inhibit obesity by aiding in the absorption of lipids and complex sugars. Thai tea also helps suppress digestion. Reports indicate that these effects are even more pronounced in black tea than in green tea.

Lowers Cholesterol

Drinking a couple of cups of black tea each day can help lower your cholesterol. High cholesterol levels can lead to several cardiovascular disorders, including heart attacks. Drinking at least three cups of black tea a day also increases a persons antioxidant levels, another plus for good heart health.

Black tea has been shown to help reverse some of the arterial dysfunction associated with heart disease. It can also improve blood oxidation, an important indicator of heart health and other chronic medical issues.

Thai Iced Tea Heavy Cream Or Condensed Milk

Its a matter of preference. The Thai Iced Tea that I have tasted are from Thai restaurants in the United States.

And to replicate that taste, heavy cream tastes closer to their Thai iced tea than condensed milk. I prefer it with heavy cream or half and half because I can control the sweetness better.

But in Thailand, they used condensed milk. Try both and see which one you like!

Thai Iced Tea – How I Make it at Home

Just as you might enjoy coffee black, you can choose to enjoy Thai tea on its own without the added creaminess of condensed milk. However, if youd like to recreate that creaminess of classic Thai tea, try using coconut milk for that subtly sweet creaminess. If using oat, almond, soy or other alternative milks, you might want to add a sweetener.

Theres never been a concentrate like this. Were not even kidding. Were the first Thai tea concentrate on the market. But thats not what makes Thaiwala special. Could it be the obsessively perfect recipe? Or the super simple preparation? Maybe its that every carton serves 8 gleeful members of your tribe. This Spin on Thai Iced Tea Is Dreamy Good

After consulting with some of my friends, I found a few types of Thai tea mixed packages online. I tried three popular Thai tea mixes for this recipe:

Pantai Thai Tea Mix was hands down my favorite among the three because of its bold flavor. Since you will be adding ice to this Thai milk tea, you want to make sure your tea is strong enough that it wont be diluted by the crushed ice.

Milk Tea Recipe. Total cook time: 10 minutes. Ingredients: 1 cup water 2.5 teaspoons Cup & Leaf English Breakfast Black Loose Tea ¼ cup whole milk 3 tsp honey or simple syrup Instructions: Bring water to a boil and pour over tea leaves.

Similar to hot Thai tea, real Thai iced tea is a mix of black tea, spices, sugar, sweetened condensed milk, and evaporated milk. It’s a great drink for fans of masala chai and other spiced or milky black teas. The best part is it’s easy to make and far cheaper to make from scratch than buying it.

In a large cup with a slanted edge for pouring, combine all ingredients except for the cold water and coconut milk. Stir ingredients and steep tea for 810 minutes. Add ½ cup of cold water. Fill two tall glasses to the brim with ice.

Types Of Thai Tea. Thai iced tea and Thai milk tea are two versions of Thai Tea.Both have a black tea base with an infusion of spices, flavoring, and coloring. Milk is added to that black tea base to make a Thai Milk Tea. When ordering this tea, its important to remember to ask for cha yen if you dont want milk and cha dum yen if you do want milk.

Preheat the oven to 155 deg C and place a water bath in. Grease and line an 8 by 8 square cake pan with parchment paper, and grease again. In a small sauce saucepan, warm milk over medium heat till bubbles start to form around the edges. Add the Thai teabags, remove from heat, stir for about 20s and cover. Let cool for about 10min.

How To Make Thai Tea At Home

Brewing the tea mix is as easy as making any other tea at home. In a pot over the stove, add 4 cups of water on medium-high heat. Once the water begins to boil, add the tea mix and stir the tea mix thoroughly.

Allow the tea to boil for 3 minutes. Carefully watch the boiling tea to prevent the water from over boiling and potentially ruining your stove with yellow food dye. After 3 minutes, remove the pot off the heat and let the mixture cool for 20 minutes.

After 20 minutes, strain the tea over a mesh strainer and a bowl, or a fancy tea sock. Make sure the tea is nice and clean of any tea leaves. Since Thai tea is best served cold, I like to make this recipe ahead of time and leave it to chill in the refrigerator for 2 hours.

To assemble, fill a glass with lots of ice and add half of the cooled Thai tea into a glass. Mix in your preferred sweetener . Now sit and watch the amazing-ness of the orange ombre about to take effect. This is my favorite part!

The ice will help dilute some of the sweetness so we want a strong and sweet base. Top it off with more ice if you prefer. Enjoy!

In Thailand, youll find countless vendors selling Thai tea on the streets, either from stables street stands and often from mobile motorbike drink carts.

Many of the cha yen vendors, use a brand of tea that comes in a red and white bag known as Cha Dra Muer or its just known as Number One Brand.

When I was in the US, at the Asian supermarket, I do remember seeing this same brand of tea, so I believe it is available if you live in a major city with an access to a large Asian supermarket.

If not, I think you can make this recipe with any black tea .

Yes, I accidentally opened the condensed milk from the bottom.

For this Thai iced tea recipe, youll need both sweetened condensed milk, and also evaporated milk.

Sweetened condensed milk is thick and sweet, almost like a syrup, while evaporated milk is like heavy cream, and is unsweetened.

Both come in a can, and the most popular version in Thailand is made by Carnation, though there are a number of other brands as well.

    Organic Thai Iced Tea

Finally, Thai Iced Tea with NO artificial flavors or colors!

Thai Tea is a popular iced drink hailing from Thailand, commonly found in Thai restaurants across the US. Our Organic and Fair Trade Certified Thai Iced Tea is a traditional blend of strong black tea, vanilla bean, cardamom and anise. It can be enjoyed hot or cold with a twist of lime as a self drinker . Or it can be brewed to create a traditional, restaurant-style Thai Iced Tea when combined with ice, milk and sugar!

To recreate a restaurant-style Thai Iced Tea, we recommend steeping a double strength cup of tea. Then sweeten the hot brew with sugar, and serve over ice. Glasses of Thai Iced Tea are usually topped with dairy, such as sweetened condensed milk, whole milk, half and half, or coconut milk . The final addition of dairy usually rests on top of the ice cubes creating a beautiful layered effect in the glass! For illustrated step-by-step instructions, check out our guide How to Make Thai Iced Tea and/or see our how to video.

NO artificial colors or flavors! Did you know that the deep orange color of Thai Iced Tea served in restaurants is usually attributed to artificial coloring? Well, no longer! Weve developed an organic tea blend that includes no artificial colors or flavors. As a result, when dairy is added to this iced tea it will not turn orange, but a beautiful, natural light brown!
