How To Pick The Right Castor Oil For Hair

Tea Tree Oil for Hair Loss | 3 Benefits & Methods

Consider the following factors to find the right castor oil for your hair and scalp.

  • Hair type: Its necessary for you to consider your hair type when buying castor oil. Those with predominantly oily hair might not need to apply castor oil for its hydrating benefits but can still use it once a month to nourish strands and promote hair growth. Castor oil is especially suited to those with dry, brittle hair as it tends to soften and hydrate from within.
  • Ingredients: Its a wise practice to peek at the ingredient list before choosing your castor oil to ensure nothing causes any adverse reactions. This will also help you filter out products effectively and buy ones that suit your scalp and hair type.
  • Aroma: Most people tend to avoid oiling the hair due to the pungent, offensive smell of most formulas. Thus, it is important that the aroma of your chosen oil is pleasant to your senses.
  • My Experience Using Ogx Tea Tree Shampoo With Mint

I picked up this shampoo after it was recommended by Nimisha as one of the best shampoos for oily hair. And I do have hair that gets greasy in a day after washing. So I figured why not give this one a try.

As I already stated the shampoo has a thick gel consistency and I am used to using creamy shampoos so far, so this was a whole new ball game. It took a while to get the hang of it. It does lather well but I had to dilute it in water to emulsify it to my liking.

It does leave hair and scalp clean well. Even if you do a hot oil treatment before. The mint and tea tree oil helped to soothe my itchy scalp. I also noticed a beautiful bounce in my hair which if you have oily hair, you know how flat our hair appears in a day.

My hair also had a beautiful shine. I did skip my conditioner for the first time. But I noticed after a day or two my hair wasnt that manageable when I skipped my hair conditioner.

I dont have hair fall issues at the moment so I wont be able to comment on that. But I didnt see any increase or decrease in losing my precious hair strands.

I feel I have found my hairs ideal shampoo. I will be continuing to use it.

I believe this is a good shampoo for people with oily hair or people with oily scalp and dry hair. I would not recommend it to people with dry or curly hair and certainly not to people with recently colored hair or as it has a drying affect on hair. Also if you have sensitive skin, I would not recommend it it to you either.

Antiseptic For Minor Cuts And Scrapes

Injuries that result in broken skin make it easy for germs to enter your bloodstream, which can lead to infection.

Tea tree oil can be used to treat and disinfect minor cuts and abrasions by killing S. aureus and other bacteria that can cause infection in open wounds (

To disinfect a cut or scrape, follow these steps:

  • Clean the cut thoroughly with plain soap and water.
  • Mix one drop of tea tree oil with one teaspoon of coconut oil.
  • Apply a small amount of the mixture to the injury and cover with a bandage.
  • Repeat this process once or twice daily until a scab has formed.
  • Find coconut oil online.

    SUMMARY

Applying a mixture of tea tree oil and coconut oil can help prevent minor cuts and abrasions from becoming infected.

Tea tree oil can easily get under nails and purify unwanted yeast, infections and bacteria when applied consistently. Its no wonder tea tree oil is also a common cure for issues like athlete’s foot, which occurs when your foot stays moist and sweaty from wearing sweaty footwear for too long. To use tea tree oil to combat toe fungus, simply use a cotton swab to apply diluted tea tree oil to the infected part.

A Comprehensive Study On Tea Tree Oil

A comprehensive and exhaustive study was done on the uses, benefits, aroma and ingredients of the tea tree essential oil. The oil extracted from the plant Melaleuca alternifolia, native to Australia has been at the forefront of complementary and alternative medicines. The research by C. F. Carson, K. A. Hammer, and T. V. Riley published in 2006 is still a must-read for those looking to lean a lot more about the oil, also called as the Melaleuca oil. The research researched into in vitro data and concluded that the oil has antimicrobial and anti-inflammatory properties. The authors suggested the need for more randomized trials to collect concrete clinical evidence so that this and others oils may soon be alternatives to antibiotics.

Why Use Tea Tree Oil For Hair

When you talk about hair health, its actually the scalp that you are referring to. The scalp has follicles, the minute openings that are responsible for the growth of hair. When these follicles are clogged by the pollutants which are present in the atmosphere, you start facing hair problems like hair fall.

Tea tree oil has proven to be beneficial in such cases where problems like dandruff and hair loss are prevalent due to improper cleaning of hair follicles leading to clogging of dirt and impurities.

Overexposure to the sun is another problem for the hair as it depletes the natural moisture of the hair. This hampers the growth of hair resulting in dead skin and dryness of hair. Tea tree oil moisturizes your scalp and provides it with the essential nutrients and supplements that would support the growth of hair.

In the coming section, well explore how to use tea tree oil for hair to treat the most common hair problems.

How to use tea tree oil for hair growth: how to prevent itchy scalp

While you will find tea tree oil in shampoos, conditioners and various hair treatments, the scientific evidence connecting it to hair and scalp benefits is somewhat limited.

That said, its effectiveness in the treatment of fungal and bacterial infections may help heal an unhealthy scalp. In addition, heres what we know about tea tree oil and specific hair/scalp conditions:

Dandruff. One of the more widely accepted uses for tea tree oil is in the treatment of dandruff. In one study, a shampoo containing five percent tea tree oil was evaluated in study subjects over a period of one month.

Compared with a placebo , those using the oil-shampoo showed improvements in dandruff severity, itchy scalp, and greasiness.

Head lice. Somewhat related to your hair health, tea tree oil is known to be effective in the treatment of head lice.

One study found it to be particularly effective when combined with another essential oil called nerolidol, while another found it may be effective on head lice when paired with lavender oil.

Hair loss/androgenic alopecia. In the treatment of hair loss caused by androgenic alopecia, there is one study that links tea tree oil to a possibly effective solution.

According to the research, the traditional hair loss treatment minoxidil may be more effective on hair growth when combined with two things: diclofenac and tea tree oil.

The small study on just 32 men found the combination treatment to be significantly superior to minoxidil alone and a placebo.

When It Comes To Tea Tree Oil Quality Is Queen

Tea tree oil comes from the Australian-native melaleuca alternifolia plant from which the illustrious Captain James Cook brewed a tea back in the 1770s. Cook dubbed this shrub-like tree the tea tree, which, as you can probably guess, is how the plants oil came to be known as tea tree oil. As it turns out, this antimicrobial property was already being used by the Australian Aboriginal indigenous population to address all kinds of issues a fact that Cook soon discovered. Tea tree oil has had a long and storied past, which has led to many extensive studies of its natural antifungal, antiseptic, antibacterial and anti inflammatory properties.

You probably already know that you can find tea tree oil in most health food stores, but many of these inexpensive products are extracted from traditionally grown tea tree plantations where the use of pesticides and other chemicals is widespread. These store-bought tea tree oils may even be sourced from genetically modified species of the tea tree and are often mixed with other oils and compounds. Unfortunately, these types of inferior, genetically altered and adulterated strains do not offer the same healing benefits as pure, organic tea tree oil. So, when youre buying tea tree oil, its important to find the most potent and pure, highest-quality extract you can find.
