Entry Vs Placement Testing

An entry test is part of the application process, and helps determine whether or not you can be accepted into the ASN program at Labouré. You must score at or above the minimum required score thresholds in order to be offered acceptance.

Labouré requires a minimum score of 69% in Reading and 60% in English and Language usage. There are no minimum score requirements for entry testing for Mathematics or Science at this time.

If you are accepted after your entry test, you will follow a My Academic Plan during your first semester at Labouré. MAPs are free online academic modules and resources that are designed by our academic advisors to help you check in during your first semester to ensure you have the tools you need to succeed in the program.

If you have been offered acceptance and you fall into the placement test range, you will take the TEAS during your first semester of enrollment at Labouré to determine your participation in the DSN program. The Student Success Center will provide information on the DSN program, testing dates, and more.

Ventura College Associate Degree Nursing Program applicants are required to take the Test of Essential Academic Skills as part of the admission multi-criteria due to new regulations by the California State Chancellorâs Office. The ATI TEAS measures basic essential skills in the academic content area domains of reading mathematics, science and English and language usage. These entry level skills were deemed important for health science program applicants by a panel of subject matter experts.

The Chancellor of the California Community colleges requires an individual composite score of 62% on ATI TEAS. Scoring 62% or above indicates that you have the academic skills necessary for successful completion of the nursing curriculum. Screening studentsâ academic skills and requiring remediation for a composite score below 62% coupled with low Reading, Math, Science and English sub scores will increase the likelihood of success in a challenging nursing curriculum.

Applicants to the Ventura College nursing program are required to take the ATI TEAS prior to October 1 for the September 15 application deadline and prior to April 1 for the March 15 application deadline.

Scores for the TEAS V version will be accepted and counted . Effective for the application period of August 1 to September 15, 2021, TEAS V version will no longer be accepted. Only ATI TEAS will be accepted and counted.

The Test of Essential Academic Skills measures basic essential skills in the academic content areas of reading, mathematics, science and English and language usage. The objectives assessed on the TEAS exam are those which nurse educators deemed most appropriate and relevant to measure entry-level academic readiness of nursing program applicants.

Students who are applying to the School of Nursing must earn a minimum score of 66 on the Test of Essential Academic Skills . The ATI TEAS is a national nursing school entrance exam designed to assess whether prospective students are academically prepared for learning nursing-related content. These skills are deemed important for success in the nursing program. The exam contains approximately 170 questions be completed in approximately 4 hours. The exam covers academic subject areas including math, science, English, and language usage.

The fee associated with taking the ATI TEAS exam is the responsibility of the student and is not included in the tuition fee to the nursing program. See the TEAS Testing Information for fees and registration information on the ATI TEAS exam.

Belhaven typically offers the ATI TEAS several times per semester. The location of the test will be Irby Science Building, Room 301.

What Should I Do On My Scheduled Test Date

• Arrive 30 minutes early to the test testing site. The test will be given in Room 301 of the Irby Science Building located on the Jackson Belhaven Campus. Late arrivals will not be allowed to test and therefore will forfeit their testing fee.
• Candidates that fail to show on the scheduled test date will forfeit their testing fee and must schedule a new test date. Missed exams are non-refundable. However, one may change a testing date by contacting ATI at least 48 hours in advance of your originally scheduled testing date.
• Schedule four hours to complete the exam.
• Bring the following to the testing site:
• A government issued picture ID
• A printed receipt confirming your registration
• Username and password assigned when registering/paying for the exam

• Please create an ATI Account prior to the test date, and save your username and password for test date.
• âTotal Scoreâ must be equal to or greater than 58.7% to be considered for admission.
• Note: Most recent TEAS results received will be calculated unless otherwise specified in writing by applicant or if our TEAS policy has been violated.
