Vanilla Flavored Or Unflavored Oat Milk

Vanilla flavored oat milk will work just fine and may even add to the lavender and coffee. But some brands have a stronger flavor, so it may overpower the lavender. Also, flavored oat milk tends to have a higher sugar content, which can add even more sugar to your lavender latte. In the end, it comes down to preference.

Why You’ll Love This Recipe:

  • The recipe is so simple to make
  • It is way less expensive to make coffees at home and so much more convenient than waiting in long lines
  • You can use my Lavender Simple Syrup recipe to avoid preservatives and it stays good in the fridge for 2 weeks
  • This latte is smooth, creamy and delicious if you choose hot or iced

The Iced version is my personal favorite way to drink Lavender Lattes and I prefer to use Oat Milk, but you can use any version of milk that you like.

How To Make This Lavender Latte Dairy

This is literally the easiest latte in the world to make dairy-free. All you have to do is follow the exact directions but switch out the milk for a dairy-free substitute at the very end.

I personally like Coconut Milk for this recipe because it comes out just as creamy, but if you dont mind a lighter iced latte, then almond milk or oat milk work well too.

How To Make Lavender Simple Syrup

Lavender Latte with Oat Milk

Making the lavender simple syrup for these lattes is exceptionally easy. Equal parts sugar and water are simmered with dried lavender buds to extract the flavor. Just make sure to use culinary lavender as not all types of lavender are meant for cooking. You can typically find dried culinary lavender buds in the spice section of your grocery store or at your local farmers market.

Youll want to strain the lavender buds from the syrup after the syrup has cooled and had a chance to steep in the liquid.

This recipe makes about 1/4 cup of syrup, enough for you to enjoy a lavender latte all week long! You can easily double or triple the recipe if youd like to make a bigger batch.

How To Make An Iced Lavender Latte

Lets make an iced latte now, shall we? This part is even easier, and takes only about 5 minutes, depending on what kind of coffee youre using.

Start by adding lavender honey simple syrup to a glass or mason jar 12 ounces is just about the perfect size . Next up, the coffee!

As mentioned, freshly brewed espresso is going to produce the best, most coffee-shop-like iced latte around, but around here were about ease and using what we have. So if you have an espresso machine, props! If you dont, youre not alone.

If thats the case, brew an extra strong cup of coffee, use instant espresso, or use a cold brew concentrate.

Add it to the glass and stir together with the simple syrup until fully combined .

Then, add a handful of ice. Use as much or as little as youd like. The beauty of making a latte at home is that you can make it 100% to your liking! The same goes for the oat milk once the ice is in the top the latte off with cold oat milk, as much or as little as youd like, depending on how strong you like your lattes .

Stir it up with a spoon or a straw until fully combined, then enjoy!

Pour The Instant Coffee & Syrup Mixture Into Your Serving Glass At The Last Minute

Next, prepare a serving glass filled with plenty of ice, and add your oat milk to the glass. If adding foamed oat milk, ensure that the glass is large enough to contain all of the foamed milk. Next, pour in the instant coffee and syrup mixture, and gently stir. Taste test the drink and add more syrup if necessary.

What type of espresso machine do you use?

I absolutely love my Nespresso machine and the milk frother that came with it. For less than $200, it allows you to create really great espressos and froth milk. I’ve had my machine for several years and have yet to upgrade.

Do I need to froth the milk?

For the iced coffee, NO. For the hot Lavender Latte, YES! The milk needs to be frothed to create a creamier texture and add heat to the drink.

Mix The Honey Lavender Simple Syrup Into The Hot Instant Coffee Right Away

Immediately after mixing the instant coffee with the water, pour the 1 tablespoon of honey lavender simple syrup into the same glass containing the espresso-like concentrate. Mix together until the syrup has completely dissolved.

Its important to add the syrup right after preparing the instant coffee because it will still be warm. This will help to completely dissolve the syrup. When the syrup is dissolved, set this this glass aside while you grab a another glass for preparing the foamed oat milk.

How To Make Iced Coffee

Lets start with the basics. If you dont have cold brew coffee at home, how do you actually make iced coffee?

In this example I made this drink as a latte. I used my latte machine to brew espresso, then left the espresso in the fridge for about 15 minutes. After that, it was ready to pour into a glass and then add milk.

If you dont have an espresso machine, you can also get espresso K-cups or pods .

How To Make Iced Lavender Lattes

Lavender Oat Latte Recipe

Making an iced latte is as simple as pouring the ingredients over ice!

Fill a glass with ice and then pour espresso in.

Add in the lavender simple syrup.

Followed by the milk.

Use as much milk as you like.

In my mind, there’s nothing prettier than the swirl action that takes place when you pour milk into a glass of espresso or coffee.

You can top your glasses with a little dried lavender if you want. I think it’s pretty and it will mostly stay on the top, so you won’t have to drink it.

The lavender flavor in this iced latte is seriously perfect! It’s light and sweet and just slightly floral, but in a super subtle way.

My husband claims to not like “floral” drinks, but I made him an iced lavender latte without telling him what it was and he loved it!

Iced Honey Lavender Lattes

***This post is made in collaboration with Beeyond The Hive. All content, ideas and words are my own.***

These Iced Honey Lavender Lattes are sweetened with a homemade simple syrup made with Beeyond The Hive Wildflower Honey and dried lavender! The syrup is free of refined sugar and provides a light floral sweetness to these lattes. Its a fun and refreshing drink to brighten up your mornings or summer afternoons.

Well, we have already completed the first week of October, and Im still thinking about all things summer. I mean, just two short weeks ago, I was in Tennessee visiting my closest friend and her new family. I spent five days loving on her and her two new babies and it was the most amazing time for both of us. The weather was hot and very humid, and that alone kept me craving my Iced Honey Lavender Lattes that I made the week before.

Even here in Colorado, the weather has been pretty warm.the cool down didnt hit until today!

So for one final hurrah, I figured why not indulge in this again, considering I had dried lavender on hand along with a handful of fresh lavender from the garden.

Lavender Vanilla Iced Latte

While we were in Wisconsin for our anniversary trip last month, we stopped by a lavender farm shop called Island Lavender and it smelled so amazing! Lavender is one of my favorite scents, and it was really tempting to buy so many things from the shop! We did buy some lavender, and other lavender scented goodies like teas and soaps, but it also may have influenced what I ordered for flavors whenever we stopped at coffee shops along the way, because I became quite fond of lavender lattes. I am a coffee lover, so before the trip, I scoped out locally owned coffee shops to stop at every day. I ordered lavender lattes at least 4 times. Iced or hot, they are one of my favorite flavors now, and if I see one on a menu I am tempted to order it, especially during the summer. I know it sounds kinda bougie, but if you are a lavender lover like me and you have tried one I am sure you know why I love them! And as I found out last weekend, they are really easy to make at home too! Since we are still technically in summer, I made an Lavender Vanilla Iced Latte and it turned out fabulous!

Lavender Vanilla Iced Latte

Ratio Of Espresso To Milk In Ice Latte

OAT MILK MATCHA LATTE » The Baker’s Almanac

Everyone has a different preference of how they like their espresso to milk ration in an iced latte, though the traditional way to make them is with 1-2 oz. of espresso and 8-14 oz. of milk .

That’s a little too much milk and too little coffee for me, so I adjusted to use 6 oz. espresso and 6 oz. milk. I also added in 1 oz. of the lavender simple syrup.

Funny enough after I got to my perfect ratio, I found Starbucks iced latte recipe and they use the same exact ratio!

Of course, you are welcome to use more or less espresso or more or less milk in your latte- it’s all about preference!

What Is A Simple Syrup

Simple syrup is a sugar and water reduction, creating a liquid form of sugar. Its a great base to create flavored syrups with fruits, herbs, and flowers. The ratio for simple syrup is 2:1 sugar to water, which gives the perfect consistency. Simple syrup is great for drinks, sauces, and baking, adding new notes and flavors to your coffee and baked goods. The best part is that its easy and quick to make!

Health Benefits Of Lavender

The use of lavender for medicinal purposes is a centuries-old concept, going back to the Ancient Egyptians and the Romans. Its a versatile plant that can provide some healing benefits, even acting as an antiseptic. Unlike newer supplements entering the health and wellness market, lavender has a long history of use and can potentially offer a wide range of benefits:

  • Calming Effects: Lavender is famous for its calming and relaxing abilities, whether you have anxiety, insomnia, or trouble relaxing.

Combine The Instant Coffee With Only 2 Ounces Of Water To Make An Espresso

After youve prepared the honey lavender simple syrup, you can begin the process for making the Instant Iced Honey Lavender Iced Latte. Dont worry, this part goes much quicker than the syrup-making process.

In order to prepare instant coffee for an iced latte, you will be creating an espresso-like concentrate as mentioned above. To do this, you will simply combine the instant coffee with less hot water than normal. Typically, you would use about 1 to 2 teaspoons of instant coffee with about 6 ounces of boiling water to make a cup of coffee. To make an espresso-concentrate, you will use about 2 teaspoons of instant coffee with 2 ounces of boiling water. This 2 ounces of water is equivalent to 1/4 cup.

This creates that very strong coffee concentrate that mimics the strength of espresso essential for making a latte. Mix the water and instant coffee in a small glass. Set this glass aside while you grab the honey lavender syrup from the fridge.

How To Make Homemade Oat Milk

Honey Lavender Oat Latte

Making your own oat milk for this homemade lavender latte is a completely optional step. It only takes a few minutes, but of course you can use any kind of store bought milk or alternative milk that you prefer if you want to skip this step.

To make homemade oat milk, simply add 1 cup old fashioned oats, 4 cups water and a pinch of salt to a blender and blend until smooth. You can also add a tablespoon of maple syrup if youd like. Then strain it through a cheesecloth or nut milk bag- thats it!

An Electric Hand Frother Is Ideal For Foaming The Oat Milk

Note: This milk foaming step is completely optional, so skip ahead if you dont want cold milk foam in your latte.

If want to add a little more texture and creamy goodness to your latte, foam the oat milk prior to pouring it into your serving glass. The best way to do this is with an electric hand frother. This kind of tool is typically battery-powered and, as the name suggests, can be held in your hand.

For the proper foaming technique, start by pouring your oat milk in a separate glass leaving about two to three inches above the milk so it has room to grow. Next, youll completely submerge your milk frother wand into the oat milk . Then, youll turn it on and let it run for about 15 seconds. Slowly, bring the foam wand just below the surface of the milk. You should see more foam starting to form. Turn it off after about 30 to 45 seconds or until your desired texture has been reached.
