Overall Review: Philips 3200 Lattego Automatic Espresso Machine
I cant believe how impressed I was with this machine. The espresso is outstanding, its so easy to use and to clean. Its got a huge water tank and a smaller footprint than my Jura. I love that it has a ceramic burr grinder and that the brew group is removeable and easily cleans under running water. Ditto for the LatteGo container which cleans up well and couldnt be easier to use.
Downsides? For me, I feel like this machine needed emptying about every 4-5 days, compared to my Jura which only gets emptied about every 7-10 days.
But honestly, I am struggling to find something about this machine I didnt like. When it comes time for me to get a new automatic espresso machine I am absolutely going to make it a Philips 3200 with the Latte Go. And at $999 CAD its substantially more affordable than a lot of other similar machines.

Ceramic Grinder & Sealed Bean Hopper
I was impressed to see this machine has a ceramic burr grinder built in. Philips says this more durable grinder will deliver exceptional coffee for up to 20,000 cups. I bought a dedicated ceramic burr grinder a few years ago when I was making manual espressos and I can tell you they are expensive but worth every penny thanks to their durability and precision of grind, as well as the evenness of the grind.
You can adjust the grind to one of 12 settings too from coarse to fine. The large bean hopper can easily hold a pound of coffee and it. Seals up well too to keep beans from getting stale. The lower the grind setting, the finer the coffee beans are ground and the stronger the coffee. There are 12 different grind settings you can choose from.The machine has been set up to get the best taste out of your coffee beans. Philips recommends not to adjust the grinder settings until you have brewed 100-150 cups .Worth noting too is that you can use pre-ground coffee to make regular coffee.
Philips 3200 Espresso Machine Review: Price And Availability
The Philips 3200 Series Fully Automatic Espresso Machine w/ LatteGo retails for $775 on Amazon and other major online retailers. You can also purchase it with an AquaClean filter for $817 if you want to save yourself the trouble of having to descale the machine.

To test the Philips 3200, we set it up in our office to let our coworkers try it out and to give them a reprieve from the pretty dreadful pod coffee machines. While they and I were generally pleased with the results, the Philips didnt pump out espresso that was as strong as wed like. That being said, the coffee it made tasted good, and was not overly bitter.
Even when we adjusted the grind to its finest setting, we still found ourselves adding an extra shot of espresso to our morning cappuccino to give us the jolt of caffeine we were looking for. In addition, the crema it produced wasnt as thick as it should be, and dispersed rather quickly. Crema was really thin, and shot was pretty weak, wrote one co-worker. Espresso was a wee bit watery, but solid overall, said another.
The LatteGo attachment was a little tricky to figure out at first, but easy to use once I got the hang of it. The attachment comes in three parts: a clear receptacle that holds the milk, a black plastic clip that connects to the machine, and a lid for the milk container. The machine sends steam through a small channel, where it mixes with the milk and then it pours out the top of the container into your cup. Its a clever system, but you have to make sure the milk container is securely clipped in otherwise, youll end up with a mess.

Verdict On The Philips 3200 Lattego Review: Simplicity Does A Body Good
Ok so the Philips 3200 LatteGo doesnt have me gushing like the DeLonghi Dinamica or DeLonghi Dinamica Plus. But thats a big ask. Its hard to find better value for money in this price category.
This Philips model places less on high-quality functionality than high-quality minimalism and hits the mark. So, if youre looking for a super automatic espresso machine designed for everyday use and that does the job without a lot of fuss, youll be happy with this machine.
Yes, the noise levels are annoying, but ultimately its pretty average compared to all the other models in the super automatic espresso machine reviews. At least you know in advance that its not whisper-quiet, so you can decide how much noise you can handle.

For this super automatic espresso machine review, I chose a brand of organic Robusta beans, which may come as a surprise to some of you, considering that I normally gravitate to light roasts and less bold, pure Robustas.
Then again, a super automatic espresso machine always lends itself to brasher Italian-style coffee with a serious caffeine kick. On top of that, climate change and Arabicas vulnerability to pests and variable weather make the Robusta bean the better all-around choice.
Whats more, Robusta always delivers a . And the Philips 3200 LatteGo definitely comes to the party in that regard.
Admittedly, a coffee snob would point out that the crema isnt as dark and speckled as what youd get with Robusta roasts in a portafilter. But it blankets the coffee evenly and is very stable in nature a solid achievement!

Philips 3200 and 4300 are equipped with a ceramic burr grinder, which is a good design for me. According to the advertisements, these grinders can deliver even ground with optimum precision. Thanks to the 12 settings, which both grinders have, we can adjust the final texture and decide the strength of the espresso shot organically.
Here is how the grinders work for me: they are very close to their advertisements. I have gotten consistently smooth and even coffee ground. The operation is pretty silent as well. I dont notice any difference in this aspect. In general, Im satisfied with these machines grinders.
If you want a strong-tasting cup of espresso, set the grinding to a higher level, like 8 or 9. The final ground texture will be finer. And if you refer mellow drinks, set the grinder at a lower level, like 5 or 6, and the ground will be coarser.
I dont recommend going further than these setting numbers since it affects the regular operation of the machine. I have tried brewing with the grinders at level 12, and the coffee comes out very bitter yet watered-down at the same time. There is little to no crema at this point. With a lower grinder setting under 4, the ground is very coarse, which results in weak and sour shots.

Im a big fan of clear, front-panel indicators of this kind as long as there are no issues with the main functions though thats certainly not the case here. You can select from five preset coffee options:

What more do you need? Nothing really. Though as a rather roundabout solution, if you remove the LatteGo System, you can even draw hot water. And thats about the extent of the fiddling required.

I think so, too, which is why I have to say that $799.00 on Amazon is a totally reasonable price tag. Even better at delivering value for money, I think, is my top pick in this category, the DeLonghi. Still, that doesnt make the Philips 3200 LatteGo a bad choice.
Making Drinks With Philips 3200
I tried making a few different drinks on the Philips 3200. Double espressos were my daily go-to but I also tried a Latte and a cappuccino.
When you turn the machine on it will heat up and automatically rinse the machine without you needing to press any more buttons .
The espresso was great the shots brewed up pretty fast and I loved that the double shots were perfect doubles, not just double long shots. The espresso came out hot and creamy with a nice crema on top. I was actually really impressed with the overall quality of the espresso.
My fist cappuccino was a bit lackluster, since it was mostly milk and hardly any foam. It actually came out more like a small latte. There are markings on the milk container to guide how much milk to use for each drink but you can add more or less as you wish.
