Where Is Pukka Turmeric Grown

Night Time tea | Pukka Herbs

Pukka turmeric is grown in Karnataka and Maharashtra, two neighbouring states in the West of India. Many of our turmeric farmers also grow ginger, and in some regions they grow it as an intercrop with tulsi, sugar cane and kapikacchu . In India alone, approximately 140,000 hectares of land are used for growing turmeric .

Why Couldnt Pukka Find Investors Rather Than Selling

Unilever gives us the sustained reach we need to take the power of plants truly global. With Unilever we can maintain our philosophy and approach it would have been harder to do that via the private equity route. We also explored the employee ownership route but felt that it wouldnt be fair to saddle everyone with debt, nor would it offer us the opportunity for sustainable scale we want. Plus, this way, Tim and Sebastian remain at the helm.

Why Trust Verywell Mind

As a Registered Dietitian, Sydney Greene, MS, RD, takes supplement recommendations seriously. Every product has been researched and vetted against clinical research, product reviews, and third-party testing websites. These are products she would not only feel comfortable recommending to her clients but would take them herself if needed.

Some Pukka Supplements Contain Seaweed Which Is A Natural Source Of Iodine Is This Safe If I Have A Thyroid Condition

Iodine has many functions within the body, including supporting normal metabolic function and, when in high levels, enhancing thyroid function. It is ingested as part of our daily diet through the consumption of foodstuffs such as fish, seafood and seaweed. At Pukka we use Arctic Fresh Seaweed in some of our supplements to enhance the absorption of herbs contained within our formulas. Although seaweed is a natural source of iodine, the amount in the Pukka supplements is very low. The European Commission/Scientific Committee on Food state that a safe daily intake of iodine for an adult should be no more than 600 micro-grams. As an example, Pukka Wholistic Ashwagandha contains 31 micro-grams of iodine per two capsule serving which is a similar iodine content to one egg. So, the amount of iodine ingested through our supplements is well below the safe daily recommended intake. This makes them useful to enrich an iodine poor diet as may be found in many regions of the world due to low soil iodine levels.

Does Aloe Vera Juice Deplete The Body Of Potassium

No, Pukka Aloe Vera Juice would not deplete the body of potassium. The potassium issue is related to the laxative effect caused by the yellow aloin-containing latex that is sandwiched between the outer green part of the leaf and the inner gel. Our Aloe Vera is hand filleted and the outer green part of the leaf and latex are removed. The inner gel is the juice. Most other Aloe Vera Juices are made from the whole leaf, including the bitter outer rind and latex and then carbon filters are used to remove the latex this process also removes some of the active constituents in the juice, so although our procedure is more time-consuming and expensive, we believe our juice contains all it should while avoiding the inclusion of potassium leaching latex.

The Aloe Vera Juice Tastes A Bit Bitter Is It Ok

Aloe Vera is famously good for your health and infamously questionable in taste. We think that ours is the best tasting around because we only use the inner leaf gel and not the bitter outer rind. But let’s face it, it can taste a bit bitter to some people – hopefully you’ll persevere! It is a natural product and does slightly vary from batch to batch depending on what time of year it is harvested.

Has Rosewater Been Discontinued

Love tea | Pukka Herbs

We discontinued Pukka Herbs Rosewater spray in May 2018. Once the current stock has run out, the product will no longer be available to purchase. Rising costs and availability of the organic ingredients along with difficulties in finding a sustainable packaging option meant, we would not have been able to offer the product at a fair price.

Rose can be found in many of our teas, such as Love but if its the cooling and soothing properties of Rosewater you like, why not try our Aloe Vera Juice which can be enjoyed as a drink or applied topically in a number of ways.

What Stance Does Pukka Take On The Gmo Debate And The Current Non

GMO products are banned from use in organic farming and the processing of organic products. As Pukka is 100% certified organic, Pukka never uses GMOs. Organic standards strictly regulate the use of pesticides, antibiotics and fertilisers whilst also monitoring animal welfare and the protection of wildlife. Therefore, GMOs and products produced from or by GMOs are incompatible with the principles of organic production as they usually involve a huge increase of environment-damaging herbicide use.

Pukka have a zero tolerance for the presence of GMOs in our organic herbal teas and remedies. As organic agriculture does not allow the use of GMOs, organic certification guarantees a non-GMO product. Pukka Herbs are certified organic by Soil Association Certification Ltd in the UK who exceed the standards required for organic food that are currently laid down in European law. Its why we don’t use tea-tents or pyramid bags that are either made from oil derived nylon or from GMO-Corn starch.

Pukka believe that the Non-GMO project in the US has helped to raise public awareness on the risks associated with GMO. As the US government do not enforce the labelling of GMOs, the Non-GMO Project is filling a much-needed gap in informing the US public of its potential risks, however as every one of our Pukka Herbs is certified organic which guarantees GMO-free we have not as yet joined the Non-GMO Project.

Why Is There No Valerian In The Night Time Latte

Valerian is a very powerful soporific and relaxing herb, but for a small number of people it can have the opposite effect making them energetic. This means they cannot enjoy our Night Time tea or supplement. There are other herbs which can be used to promote sleep so we have chosen to use these in our Night Time latte. This ensures all people looking for herbal sleep support can find something that suits their individual needs within the Pukka range.

What Quality Grade Of Matcha Powder Do You Use

Our matcha powder is one of the best quality matchas you can get. The basis of matcha powder is the top buds of shaded spring teas. For these ‘Kabuse Cha’ teas, the bushes are shaded with dark meshes for a couple of days before harvesting. This increases the amount of amino acids and makes the tea sweeter. After harvest, the leaves are processed to steamed green tea, then the leaves are ground in stone mills. A very important factor is the temperature, so the milling is extremely slow in order to avoid high temperatures that can destroy the quality. Matcha should be stored in the cool and dark, otherwise it will lose flavour as well as colour. And, of course, its organic. For more information on matcha read this article.

Update: 18 Months With Unilever How Has It Been

It has been over 18 months since we joined Unilever and Pukka is still an independently run company, with iron-clad commitments to staying 100% organic, donating at least 1% of turnover to environmental causes annually and committed to sustainable wild harvesting with FairWild and a champion of fair trading with Fair for Life.

In 2018, we recorded a donation of over £540,000 to environmental causes, contributing to a total of over £1.5 million since 2016. Last year, we joined the fight against climate change and became the first UK company of our size to have its climate target to become zero carbon by 2030 validated by the Science Based Targets initiative. Our commitment to organic grows as we do too, in 2018, we bought 16% more organic herbs than we did in 2017.

We continue to accelerate forward with purpose, expertise in herbalism, passion for regenerative business, investment in research and development and delivering organic fairly-traded and ethically sourced herbs on a much wider scale than ever seen before. We are completely unwilling to compromise from the quality of our organic practitioner-grade herbs fairly sourced from around the world through to our tireless commitment to produce a fully recyclable envelope to enclose all of our herbal teas.

What Is The Difference Between Matcha Green Tea And Matcha Green Tea Powder

Pukka Revitalise Tea

Matcha is a very special form of powdered green tea that comes from the same plant as regular, whole leaf, green tea. The difference between matcha and green tea lies in the unusual cultivation and processing methods. For matcha this involves removing unnecessary fibres from the dried leaves before grinding it into a delicious tasting, dark green powder with all the goodness of green tea in a super-concentrated form. So, the only difference between matcha green tea and matcha green tea powder is whether or not it has been ground down into powder form.

What Is Pukka Doing About The Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive

You may have heard about the new European directive that came into force on May 1 2012 which affects the sales of traditional health medicines. The Traditional Herbal Medicinal Products Directive requires all herbal medicines be sold under license. To continue to sell Pukkas traditional Ayurvedic herbal capsules we have relabeled them as Food Supplements. Doing so allows us to provide them under the European Food Supplements Directive and we are confident that this will ensure their legality.

We have long been politically active in lobbying for changes to be made to the THMPD as we believe it is:

A disproportionate regulation, especially for herbs from non-European traditional medicinal systems such as Ayurveda

An infringement of human rights by limiting an individuals access to natural plant medicines

As a result we have been supporting the Alliance for Natural Health in their pursuit of a Judicial Review that will question the current form of the THMPD. In the long-term this means pursuing a specific regulatory framework for traditional medical products.

Please be assured that we are doing all we can to provide you with the highest quality herbal remedies to maintain your health. Our aim has always been to promote the incredible health benefits of organic herbs and we look forward to doing so long into the future.
