What Does The Teas Exam Consist Of

One of the most important TEAS test tips we can give is to familiarize yourself with the exam format so you know what to expect on test day. Youll be glad to hear that the format of the TEAS exam is similar to other standardized tests youve likely taken in your life. According to the Assessment Technologies Institute , the TEAS test consists of 170 multiple-choice questions covering a variety of subjects to be answered in 209 minutes.

The bulk of what youll need to know for the TEAS test is tied to the foundational education subjects commonly found in high school curriculums. ATI shares that the test covers material that students are expected to have acquired from their secondary education in the following areas:

    How Do I Register To Take The Teas

    All individuals preparing to take the TEAS test must first create an ATI account. To do so, visit www.atitesting.com. Click Create an Account . You only need to register once, and you will use the same account throughout your nursing program. Youll need your ATI username and password to take an online test or your ATI paper/pencil ID to take a paper/pencil test. Please bring this information with you to the testing location.

    An entry test is part of the application process, and helps determine whether or not you can be accepted into the ASN program at Labouré. You must score at or above the minimum required score thresholds in order to be offered acceptance.

    Labouré requires a minimum score of 69% in Reading and 60% in English and Language usage. There are no minimum score requirements for entry testing for Mathematics or Science at this time.

    If you are accepted after your entry test, you will follow a My Academic Plan during your first semester at Labouré. MAPs are free online academic modules and resources that are designed by our academic advisors to help you check in during your first semester to ensure you have the tools you need to succeed in the program.

    If you have been offered acceptance and you fall into the placement test range, you will take the TEAS during your first semester of enrollment at Labouré to determine your participation in the DSN program.     How To Prepare For The Teas

    When it comes to TEAS test prep, we recommend that you begin studying at least six weeks before your scheduled exam dateand you do not have to prepare alone.     What Is The Difference Between Teas V And Ati Teas

    HOW TO PASS THE ATI TEAS TEST

    Unlike the TEAS V, you will be provided with a four-function calculator and scrap paper to use during the tests. All scrap paper, used and unused, and the calculator must be returned to the test monitor, or proctor after the test is over.

    The difficulty of the exams is on par with each other however adjustments were made in the ATI TEAS to align current academic standards and understandings.

    How Much Does The Test Cost

    • Students are required to prepay and pre-register for the ATI TEAS test. The cost is listed when you register for the test. Payment is accepted using major credit cards.     Register At Least Two Weeks Ahead Of Time

    Another smart TEAS test tip is to register for the exam early. While you can do plenty of independent preparation beforehand, ATI may send you a study guide and other important materials once you do officially register for the test.

    Although the test time is exactly 209 minutes, all test takers will be given a 10 minute break after the Mathematics section of the test, which is the second of the four sections in the examination. These 10 minutes are NOT considered part of the 209 minutes allocated for the test.

    If there is a need for you to take a break, to use the restroom or for any other reason, you must raise your hand to get permission to do so. The time you spend taking this optional break will be counted against your test time. It is, therefore, highly recommended that you not take any breaks other than the 10-minute break all are given after the Mathematics section.

    Who Takes The Teas

    The TEAS is part of the admissions process for the Associate of Science in Nursing program. If you are applying to the ASN program, the Admissions Team will determine whether or not you need to take the TEAS based on the criteria below, and will let you know if TEAS is a part of your requirements.

    You will take the TEAS if your cumulative GPA is lower than a 3.0. If your GPA is between a 2.0 and a 2.99 and you are offered acceptance to Labouré, then you will take the TEAS during your first semester as a placement test to determine participation in the DSN program .

    If your GPA is between a 2.0 and a 2.49, you will take the TEAS as an entry test before you receive an admissions decision, and will test again for placement during your first semester if offered acceptance to Labouré.

    You will not need to test if you meet any of the conditions below:

    • Your cumulative GPA is 3.0 or above
    • You have already earned a bachelor’s degree
    • You hold a valid LPN license

    If you are required to take the TEAS for entry or for placement, your admissions counselor will help you schedule the test on-site or online through Labouré at no cost to you. Labouré is not able to accept test scores from previous tests you may have taken. If you just took the TEAS elsewhere before being asked to take it at Labouré, you must wait at least 2 weeks before scheduling your Labouré test.

    Register For The Exam Early

    The earlier you register for the exam, the more time you will have to study and prepare. The test creator will send a study guide once you have registered, which lets you really hone in and identify the areas you need to spend time studying.     This really depends on your target program. Generally speaking, a TEAS score between 59% 79% is considered proficient. A score in this range often qualifies a student for a nursing program, particularly for ADN/ASN programs. This varies by state and program, however! A score of 80% or above is considered advanced. Advanced scores are often required for competitive programs. A score above 92% is considered exemplary.For many students, getting into the 80s is the most difficult hurdle.
