Course Description
Gaston College offers a four-day, low cost prep class for the ATI TEAS test. Students who complete the 4-day class will receive a certificate of completion and 0.5 point toward their Gaston College ADN & PN application. The class will prepare test takers for all four parts of the ATI TEAS Test:
- Mathematics
- Science: Biology, Chemistry, Anatomy & Physiology
- Reading

Taking TEAS practice exams prior to your test date is one of the best ways to prepare for the exam and ensure you reach your goals in terms of your final score. Not only can you familiarize yourself with the type of content to expect and the format of the test, but you will gain confidence in your abilities to answer the questions correctly. Prior to taking any online practice tests, be sure that they are coming from a reputable source and a company with a proven track record of assisting examinees in preparing for the TEAS test.
What To Expect On Test Day
You may be eligible to take the TEAS Test either digitally or using a paper version. Prior to the exam date, you can visit the ATI testing website to determine eligibility for the online exam. If you are eligible to take it electronically, you will receive instructions about how to create your ATI login information prior to your scheduled exam date.
Whether taking the exam online or on paper, you will have to show up at a testing center on your scheduled testing date. Be sure you know where the testing center is located. Its always a good idea to leave early in case you need extra time to find your way.

How Many Times May I Take The Teas
You may take the test twice per application period. Attempts exceeding two will not be considered for admission. You are required to pay for the test each time you take the test. Towson will use the highest Adjusted Individual Score. We do not have a time requirement between attempts however, we do recommend sufficient time for remediation and re-test preparation.
Test Of Essential Academic Skills Testing
The Test of Essential Academic Skills is required for acceptance consideration for the Associate Degree in Nursing and Surgical Technology. TEAS covers English and Language Usage, Math, Reading and Science. The test is approximately 3 hours long. Your scores will print out immediately. There is a 30-day waiting period between testing.AN APPLICANT MAY TAKE THE TEAS TEST TWICE IN A CALENDAR YEAR . AN APPLICANT MAY TAKE THE TEAS NO MORE THAN FOUR TIMES.
In addition to testing on-site, students may now take the exam remotely . Please ensure the following before registering for a remote exam:
Remote TEAS is administered on Tuesdays at 8:30 a.m. Register at www.atitesting.com for the appropriate Tuesday. Remote instructions will be sent to the email address you registered with prior to your exam date.
- Your laptop or desktop computer must have Google Chrome installed .
- Your computer must have a webcam and microphone.
- You must have a reliable and stable internet connection.
- You must have a quiet, well lit place to test that is free from distractions.
Registration:Students must first, create a username and password on www.atitesting.com prior to registering for the TEAS. Once you have created your username and password, click the Online Store, then register for TEAS. The TEAS fee is $102 + tax.

Price: Starting at $49
Pros:The Kaplan TEAS question bank contains over 500 TEAS practice questions. The questions are realistic and come with comprehensive explanations. You can create customizable quizzes based on the content areas you want to improve in. Youll also receive detailed reports of your ability and progress.
Cons: This question bank is expensive: access starts at $49 for one month. Youll have to pay for continued access to the question bank, which can cost a pretty penny. You also dont get a full practice test, just questions in specific topic areas. If you struggle with standardized testing, its important to take a full exam in one sitting to practice for test day.
Simulate The Testing Experience
At over three hours long, the TEAS exam is a prolonged testing experience, and all of it is taken in one sitting with only short breaks allowed. During your preparatory period leading up to the date of the exam, its always a great idea to simulate the testing experience, including timing yourself on each section and completing an entire practice exam in one sitting. This will give you an idea of how much time the questions generally take you to answer so that you can gauge how much time to allow for each question when taking the actual test.

Teas Math 36 Questions In 54 Minutes
Youll have 32 scored TEAS Math questions and 4 unscored questions. TEAS scores depend on two general areas. A TEAS Math passing score is about 70%.

In general, a passing score on this section requires working with word problems, knowing a few formulas like the back of your hand, and doing TEAS math practice question drills so that you can be ready for test day.
Youll want to do drills with PEMDAS questions , and converting decimals, fractions, and percentages. Its also a great idea to practice solving algebra questions with one variable, especially with negative numbers and fractions.
Test Of Essential Academic Skills
The TEAS is a multiple-choice test that evaluates student competencies with the following concepts/skills: math, science, reading, and English.
The concepts/skills assessed by the TEAS exam are those which have deemed most appropriate and relevant to measure entry level skills and abilities of nursing program applicants . Standardized entrance exams have become the norm for the majority of nursing programs across the country. Other types and previous versions of the TEAS will not be accepted.

Human Anatomy And Physiology: S I
Physiology is the study of the functions of the body. Anatomy and physiology, although technically discrete and different bodies of knowledge, anatomy, and physiology are closely aligned with each other. For example, the anatomy of cardiac muscles enables the physiological performance of the heart to fulfill the body’s physical need for blood flow and oxygenation and the anatomy of the digestive system enables the person to consume food and process foods so that the physical need for nutrition is fulfilled.

As we follow the current social distancing and Safer at Home mandates, Ventura College will only be offering the ATI TEAS remotely using Proctorio, a learning integrity platform.
The TEAS will be administered remotely using Proctorio, you will need the following:
- Microphone: any microphone, either internal or external
- Webcam: 320×240 VGA resolution internal or external
- Desktop or laptop computer with the ability to install Proctorio Google Chrome extension
- High-speed internet

ATI TEAS testing is provided ONLY for Ventura College ADN program applicants.
TEAS test dates are for applicants that are applying for the Spring 2022 semester during the application period that ends 9/15/2021. After submitting your application to a nursing counselor, email your TEAS reservation request to Catherine Faulkner at using your my.vcccd.edu email. An email confirmation will be sent directly to each student. All contact regarding TEAS testing is done by email. No phone calls please.
All testing, including EAC, will be provided on the following dates:

I was studying for my certification to become a Certified Nursing Assistant when I decided that I wanted to change careers and go into teaching. What Should I Do On The Day Of The Teas Exam
Before you know it, the day youve been preparing for will be here. This is where all of your nights spent studying for the TEAS test will pay off. But there are still a few final things you can do on that day to set you up for success.
Make sure you get a good nights sleep and eat a well-balanced breakfast the morning of your exam. Some of the best foods for your brain include eggs, salmon, green tea and acai berries. Additionally, it is important to stay hydrated and keep your body running smoothly.
If youre unfamiliar with the testing location, take the time to scout out the area ahead of timeyou dont want to find out at the last second if parking space is limited and you now need an extra ten minutes to get settled. Youve got enough on your mind that you dont need minor worries adding unnecessary stress.
Finally, if you take nothing else from these day-of preparations, remember this one: Do not be late! ATI will not let you begin the test after the designated start time. There are also a few things ATI requires that you bring along with you on exam day: a No. 2 pencil, your registration receipt with the ATI testing ID number and a valid photo ID.

Entry Vs Placement Testing
An entry test is part of the application process, and helps determine whether or not you can be accepted into the ASN program at Labouré. You must score at or above the minimum required score thresholds in order to be offered acceptance.
Labouré requires a minimum score of 69% in Reading and 60% in English and Language usage. There are no minimum score requirements for entry testing for Mathematics or Science at this time.
If you are accepted after your entry test, you will follow a My Academic Plan during your first semester at Labouré. MAPs are free online academic modules and resources that are designed by our academic advisors to help you check in during your first semester to ensure you have the tools you need to succeed in the program.
If you have been offered acceptance and you fall into the placement test range, you will take the TEAS during your first semester of enrollment at Labouré to determine your participation in the DSN program. The Student Success Center will provide information on the DSN program, testing dates, and more.
