Great App Just A Few Suggestions

2021 First Presidencys Christmas Devotional

Overall I think this app is great! I think it does a great job when it comes to contacting members and finding peoples numbers in my ward, which I find is very necessary at times. It also is a really great tool when I want to see who the new people in the ward are and their names so I dont constantly ask them hey, sorry whats your name again? I just look it up haha. A few things I think would make it better are 1. I often find that I need to find someone from another stake but I dont have access to the stakes around me, it would be infinitely more convenient if I could see as far as the stakes in the area around me to be able to contact people in those wards as well. 2. Another thing is age, it has been very difficult for me to figure out who people in my ward are when they dont have a picture or ages on this app. I know that only a few people can access age but I feel that it is a very important identification tool and would help immensely if everyone could see age and birthday . These are just a few things I would suggest. Thanks for keeping these in mind!

Church Growth Is Soaring In The Democratic Republic Of Congo And Other Parts Of Africa But The Rolls Are Declining In 21 Us States

Latter-day Saint faithful stand as top church leaders leave the Conference Center after the morning session of General Conference on Saturday, April 2, 2022. The church reported it now has more than 16.8 million members worldwide.

Growth in The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints bounced back a bit last year after taking a pandemic plunge in 2020. The global faith saw its overall membership rise by 0.8% during 2021 to top 16.8 million.

Africa has led the way, accounting for 10 of the 14 fastest-growing nations in terms of Latter-day Saint growth the past two years.

In the United States, from the start of 2020 to the end of 2021, membership increased 0.6% to exceed 6.7 million. South Dakota, Arkansas and Tennessee grew the fastest, while California, North Dakota and Washington were the biggest percentage losers. In fact, 21 states plus the District Columbia actually saw their membership tallies shrink.

On this weeks show, Matt Martinich, an independent researcher who dutifully tracks these statistics and more for the websites cumorah.com and ldschurchgrowth.blogspot.com, discusses the ups and downs and ins and outs of church growth and how the membership is booming in some places and dwindling in others.

Great Idea Poor Execution

As an introverted member of the church, the idea behind this app is invaluable- a place where I can look up my fellow church members and leaders and get their number or address and find a way to connect that isnt walking up at church and saying hello, lets talk because thats terrifying. However, many of the aspects of this app make it difficult for me to use, earning its star rating- its been buggy lately, meaning that I have been too anxious to use it for its intended purpose. The information doesnt sync often enough so it often isnt very helpful. So many people are on private- I dont know if thats the default or if people are just choosing it, but again, if all of my church leaders are on private, I feel like I dont even know who to talk to much less how to reach them. And theres no in-app messaging options, which honestly would make my life so much simpler. If these things were updated, especially the last one, this app would get 5 stars from me. But until the technology catches up with my needs, the best I can do is 3 stars.

Restoration Of The Church Of Jesus Christ

Church of Jesus Christ of Latter

While Jesus Christ was on the earth, He established His Church. Following His death and the deaths of His Apostles, some of the precious truths He taught and His sacred authority were lost for a time.11 This time period is known as the Great Apostasy.

In the spring of 1820, a young man named Joseph Smith prayed to God with great concern for the salvation of his own soul and to know which church he should join. God and Jesus Christ appeared to Joseph12 and began to prepare him to bring back the precious truths and the sacred authority that had been lost from the Church Jesus Christ formed while on the earth. Under the Lords direction, Joseph Smith organized The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints on April 6, 1830.

Through the power of God, Joseph Smith translated an ancient record written by prophets who lived on the American continents and taught and testified of Jesus Christ.13 This ancient record is called the Book of Mormon and stands alongside the Bible as another testament that Jesus Christ is the Son of God and the Savior of mankind.

Church Announces New Wi

Scott G Winterton, Deseret News

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints has announced a new wireless network to replace the LDSAccess network in meetinghouses and other Church facilities.

An announcement sent to general and local leaders Friday, Feb. 14, provided information on how to access the new network. The switch from LDSAccess to the new network, Liahona, reflects the Churchs effort to follow President Russell M. Nelsons direction to use the correct name of the Church.

While LDSAccess will be available until April 15 as part of a transition period, users are encouraged to begin using the Liahona network immediately, the announcement said.

The password for accessing the new network is alma3738 a reference to the Book of Mormon verse that names the compass used by Lehi and his family as the Liahona. Users will be required to accept the terms of use each day they access the network, but they only need to enter the password on their device once.

This agreement helps manage available bandwidth by reminding users of the networks intended purpose and by preventing unintentional use by devices performing automatic functions when connected to wi-fi upon entry to a Church building, according to the announcement.

The purpose of providing internet in meetinghouses is to enhance gospel learning and instruction, support Church administrative functions, and further the purposes of the Church, the announcement stated.

The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints

The worldwide membership of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints was 16,663,663 as of Dec. 31, 2020, up from 16,565,036 at the end of 2019.

The net increase of 98,627 church members was reflected in a statistical report issued during the Saturday afternoon session of the faiths 191st Annual General Conference.

The numbers reflect the impact of the coronavirus pandemic on the churchs missionary work through the final three quarters of 2020. It also led to delays in baby blessings and baptisms as congregations followed COVID-19 health and safety protocols.

Saturdays conference sessions highlighted the increasingly international nature of the church.

Since 1998, more members of the church have lived outside the United States and Canada, Elder Gerrit W. Gong said in the Saturday morning session. By 2025, we anticipate as many church members may live in Latin America as in the United States and Canada.

At the end of 2019, the church had 6,920,086 members in the U.S./Canada and 6,677,596 in Latin America, including Mexico, Central and South America and the Caribbean.
