How to Make Keto Bulletproof Tea | Easy Keto Tea Recipe

I know I keep saying my recipes are endlessly customizable, but it honestly has never been more true than in this Keto iced tea. Play with any and all of the flavors you like: think ginger-mint-lemon, strawberry-chamomile, or some floral lemon verbena or hibiscus. You could even steep lavender in it if youre feeling particularly fancy. If you like plain sweet tea you can simply omit the flavors and let the tea shine through. You cant go wrong with a lemongrass-kafir lime Thai-inspired combo. And if you want to give it an Indian twist, steep it with a couple of cloves, cardamom pods, ginger, a stick of cinnamon, some star anise and a few black peppercorns for masala iced tea!

If youre not on Keto you can obviously sub in other flavors as well peach would be a favourite, as would pineapple. You can go even more tropical with mango, lychee or maybe a watermelon-basil. Let me know what your favourite iced tea flavor is!

And if youre in the mood for something thats refreshing but also filling, take a look at my strawberry cheesecake smoothie thats a tall glass of delicious. And honestly, on a cold winters day, theres nothing more warming than a glass of hot Keto masala chai just dont ask me to call it chai tea latte! If coffee is more er your cup of tea, I promise you wont regret this vietnamese egg coffee. I know it sounds odd but it tastes like the marriage of a silky custard with a bracing coffee and if youve never tried it, you have to give it a go.

    PART 1- THE BREW

If your goal is to get a nice kick to start your day, there are a couple of different leaves that you can use in your keto tea.

Black tea is a great option because it has a low caffeine content but it still brews a strong tea that will ensure that youre not missing coffee.

The compounds in black tea are also smaller than the ones in green tea which is another great option for bulletproof tea.

However, the smaller compounds in black tea mean that its absorbed faster, and youll feel the effects for around 2 hours.

On the other hand, if you are looking to feel the effects of your keto tea for a longer period of time- say 4-6 hours, then green tea is the way to go. You could also experiment with an Oolong Tea.

    PART 2: THE FAT

Adding healthy fats to your diet has many benefits. This is why bulletproof coffee is the main beverage choice on the keto diet.

If you want to truly make your bulletproof tea work, then adding some fats is essential. If you choose to use black tea as your brew for this, then adding fats will actually help you to absorb it better.

Here are some of the fats that you can add to your bulletproof tea:

    • Coconut Oil
    • Butter
    • Ghee

You can also add coconut milk or collagen peptides for a creamier taste, then whip up everything with a milk frother to get a delicious frothy effect.

How Much Carbs Is Too Much

Keto diet is a special eating regime that allows you to reach a state of ketosis, a process in which the body starts using stored fat as a fuel, rather than sugars and carbs. To reach this state, all carbs should be avoided or kept to a minimum for at least 2-4 days. This low-carbs, high-fat diet may be beneficial for people with Type 2 diabetes as it may not only help lose weight, it may lower the blood sugar and bodys demand for insulin too.

However, carbs and sugars are almost everywhere, and keto diet is one of the most difficult diets to maintain, even short term. It requires a complete change of your eating and drinking habits and will cause significant energy decrease, especially during the first few days. Keto diet allows you to eat up to 50 grams of carbs per day, but if possible, to reach the ketosis state keep the carb count below 20 grams per day.

    • a blender place all the ingredients into the blender and blend on high speed for 20 seconds until creamy.
    • an immersion blender place all the ingredients into a tall and wide container or mug and immerge the immersion blender. Blend until creamy,
    • a milk frother froth all the ingredients into a tall tea mug until creamy and smooth.

This is the key to combining your MCT oil and grass-fed butter together. If you do not blend the tea and healthy fats at high speed, they will not combine and two layers will form in your drink. It is honestly the worst both visually and in terms of taste. So, you dont want this to happen.

Is Tea Ok For The Keto Diet

    Keto Tailgate Drinks

The first question you might have is: “Can I have tea on the keto diet?”

First off, most teas are a zero-calorie, zero-carbohydrate drink. Plus, its linked to a bunch of health benefits:

    • Packed with antioxidants that slow the breakdown of our body
    • Less caffeine than coffee, but will still give you a boost of energy
    • Linked to heart health and possible cancer prevention
    • Protects your teeth from cavities and doesnt erode tooth enamel
    • Possibly aids with digestion

Seeing as how its a great alternative to water and can be served hot or cold, tea makes for an excellent keto-friendly beverage.

There are different types of tea you can choose from, such as:

    • Black teas, which contain more caffeine
    • Green teas, which have lower caffeine content and a slightly more earthy flavor than black teas
    • Herbal teas, which dont have caffeine

    Why Is Butter Tea Healthy

Butter Tea contains all the healthfulness of butter, ghee and/or coconut oil and MCT oil. Therefore, Butter Tea contains medium-chain triglycerides , which are great for yielding energy and burning fat. Butter and coconut oil provide much needed cholesterol, which helps our bodies to make key hormones, and both are anti-inflammatory.

Kerrygold Butter and Wild Yak Ghee contain high levels of conjugated linoleic acid , because theyre grass-fed. This compound helps to protect against cancer. Cows, or yaks for that matter, fed solely on grass have 500% more CLA!

My version of Butter Tea contains gelatin, which creates a fine foam, lends some excellent amino acids and is great for so many health goals: gut healing, hunger satiation, muscle health, skin, hair, nail and bone health, increased athletic performance, stress recovery and gelatin helps the body to detoxify.

A bit of sea salt adds trace minerals for better cellular function and overall energy.

Lastly, the tea itself matters. My doctor shared with me recently just how high tea is in polyphenols! She encouraged me to enjoy my favorite Jasmine Green and others. Tea provides a wonderful source of antioxidant protection:

Regarding GI health, the University of Maryland Medical Center states,

High polyphenol content means more food for our good gut bacteria! . Polyphenols also have anti-viral properties that fight off harmful pathogens. Check out Piques beautiful flavors and selection HERE.
