Yes you can! To do it, steep and strain your lavender buds as directed. Then, use a tall glass, fill it with ice cubes, transfer the strained tea and add the cold milk. Sweeten your drink and stir.
Lavender pairs very well with blueberries, so you could also add a few fresh or frozen ones to the bottom of your glass first, gently crush the fruits and add the rest of the ingredient. This would add lots of color and flavor.

Lavender is native to Europe, however its now being grown nearly everywhere around the world. A certain part of France is very famous for successfully growing large fields of lavender, as well as other aromatic herbs.
Lavender grown in Provence fetches a higher price on the market, partly due to its higher quality, and partly due to the hype around it.
This is all because Provence actually has the. best. weather. for growing large fields of lavender, so it will of course fetch a higher price.
Otherwise you can find wild lavender, though it might be less impressive than the one cultivated for its scent in dedicated fields.
What kind of lavender is used for tea ?
Theres about 39 different types of lavender across the entire planet, some more precious than others. Most of the time theyre used as ornamental flowers, but some of them are actually edible, and are also used in coking.
Lavandula augustiflora is the one commonly used for tea and cooking, and is otherwise known as English lavender, or simply lavender.
That is not to say that other lavender types are unsuited for culinary use, but they might offer a different flavor.
Basic Lavender Tea Recipe
A lavender tea recipe is actually a lavender herbal tea. The use of the word tea is a loose association to what we more commonly think of as tea: the black leaf variety. A basic lavender tea recipe wont have tea in it, but that said, there are lavender black teas available which are either infused with lavender essential oils or combined with lavender leaves.
To make lavender tea, you can either use a saucepan or a teapot. Add four cups of water and two tablespoons of lavender flowers. Once youve had it a few times, youll figure out the desired strength and adjust accordingly. Let the water boil and then allow the tea to steep for at least 15 minutes. Strain and then serve. You can also chill this to make a lavender iced tea.

Black Tea and Lavender Leaves: Using loose leaf tea and lavender leaves is the best way to go! If you use this method, you will be able to steep the tea and lavender together. Choose your favorite black tea, or use an herbal tea like chamomile.
Almond Milk: I prefer to use an unsweetened plain almond milk. However you can use a vanilla if you prefer.
Maple Syrup: If you prefer a bit of added sweetener, use a teaspoon of maple syrup in each cup! Add the maple syrup after youve steeped the tea, and before you add the foamy almond milk.

Ive got lavender growing in my garden. During thespringtime its bursting with flowers and I make sure to cut enough to have allwinter long and share with friends. I cut them in bunches then hang them upsidedown in a dry place away from the sun. Hanging them upside down helps the stemsstay straight once dry. Youll notice that lavender flowers will wilt prettyquickly after cutting.

How To Dry Lavender Quickly
If you dont have a dehydrator handy but still want to speed up the drying process, then you can dry lavender in the oven.
Preheat the oven to 100 degrees F. Leave the door open slightly to allow any moisture to escape.
Spread the clean leaves in a single layer on a baking sheet and place in the oven. Check frequently as it can be easy to burn with this method.
Usually after 10-15 minutes, itll be completely dried . If any moisture remains, flip them and keep in the oven for an additional five minutes.
Allow the plant to cool before handling and then store.
Tips For Drying Lavender Leaves
Although many people prefer to dry the buds of the plant, the leaves also smell great and are just as easy to dry.
When drying the leaves, use the tender growth that is at the tip of the stems for the best results.
To prep them for drying, you can cut the stem off at any time. However, if you have a flower growing on the stem that you want to keep growing, simply wait until its done blooming or remove individual leaves.
Make sure that you dont remove too much at any one time as this can keep the plant from growing well.

Tips For Using Fresh Fruit To Create Your Own Tea Blends:
If you are using fresh fruits, like I used lemon and ginger, use a vegetable peeler to remove thin strips of the rind from the fruit.
Then place them on a baking sheet, and place them in your oven at 200 degrees for 2 hours, or longer if necessary, to begin to dry them out.
After two hours, you can let them rest on the counter overnight as well they should be good to go by morning. Chop them into fine pieces, and you are ready to blend.

My local farmers market sells both fresh organic lavender and dried, as its grown locally. If you get the chance to visit a lavender farm, I recommend it. I love stopping by our local lavender farm, Clairmont Farms in Los Olivos.

You can use culinary lavender in baking and cooking. My favorite spice blend is Herbes de Provence, which combines lavender with thyme, basil, rosemary, tarragon, savory, marjoram, oregano, and bay leaf.
Store dried lavender in a cool dry place and it should stay fresh for 6 months.

How To Dry Lavender In A Dehydrator
Although you probably use dehydrators primarily for drying food, they work just as well for herbs like lavender. This is one of the faster methods, so if you already have a dehydrator hiding in your cabinet, Id go with this option.
Make sure that the lavender is free from dirt and any bugs. Spread them out on the trays and place in the dehydrator.
Make sure that they are not touching for the best results.
Set on the lowest setting. If your dehydrator has a setting for herbs, use that one. Check the lavender every hour and remove it when it is completely dry.
Lavender Tea Side Effects
Though herbs can be used to fortify the body and mind, as with anything they can have side effects, so caution is advised. That said, lavender is known to be a safe herb that many people can tolerate very well, though if youre allergic to flowers, it might not be a good idea to consume the tea until you talk to your allergist or doctor. If you do decide to try it, have a small sample of tea first and then wait 48 hours to see if any side effects occur. Drinking lavender tea in pregnancy should also be discussed with your doctor beforehand.
If youre thinking of bypassing the use of fresh or dried lavender flowers and want to use the easier-to-find lavender oil instead, stop right there. Taking lavender oil internally is a one-way ticket to toxicity, as the oil is far more concentrated.
