The Zinus Memory Foam is a bed-in-a-box mattress, which means it will arrive compressed and will have to be unboxed at home. As with all bed-in-a-box mattresses, youll need to wait at least 24 hours for this bed to fully decompress.
Like many new mattresses, the Zinus will likely emit a smell when it is first unboxed this is known as off-gassing. Although this smell is not harmful, it does come with an unpleasant new mattress smell. If you experience off-gassing, I recommend leaving the mattress in a well-ventilated room and within a few hours the smell should be completely gone!

I purchased this for my next bedroom primarily for guest usage. Installation was fast and simple. I didnt observe a lingering odor, however, I put this up through the summertime and also kept the window open to get a couple of days to make certain. The funniest on it for fourteen days and remarked that it was really comfy she enjoyed it. Whether you choose the 6″, 8″, 10″ or 12″ the Zinus Green Tree Memory Foam mattress is made with the same three different layers of CertiPUR-US Certified foam, but the amount of foam used, and how the bed will ultimately feel, changes with each thickness increase. The 6″ and 8″ models are recommended for back sleepers and those of average weight, the 10″ and 12″ mattresses are recommended for side sleepers of petite to average weight.
The base high density foam is sturdy and provides support along the edges and even pressure relief. The middle layer of foam is known as comfort foam and is the thinnest and softest of the layers of foam. Natural green tea extract and purified charcoal have been added to the top layer of foam, which is about an inch thicker than the middle section. Although you cant smell the green tea or charcoal infusions, theyre working hard to maintain a fresh mattress over time. Everything is contained in a soft woven jacquard cover.

Zinus Green Tea Overall Feel Softness And Coolness
This bed definitely has that traditional memory foam feel, which may or may not be preferable. It depends on personal preference. Its very soft and very comfortable, but when you lie on it, you sink in quite a bit.
Youve probably heard people talk about that stuck-in-the-mud feeling well, thats what you get with the Green Tea mattress from Zinus. Some people love that.
For example, our video editor loves that feeling and really enjoyed this mattress. Other people want a mattress with more support. Overall, wed give it a 4/10 on our soft-to-firm scale, which is the softest score weve given out of the 20-plus mattresses weve tested.
As such, we see this bed as being better for side sleepers. If you really like your pressure points being cradled by soft memory foam, this bed will definitely provide that.
However, if youre primarily a back or stomach sleeper, were not so sure the Green Tea mattress provides enough support, especially if youre over 230 pounds.

The 12-inch Zinus Green Tea mattress is made up of various levels of foam.
On the bottom, you have a 3.5-inch layer of support foam. On top of that is another layer of 3.5-inch high density foam. Then on top of that is a 2-inch layer of comfort foam and a 3-inch layer of memory foam.
The construction of this bed wont wow you theres really nothing special about it. Its just a basic bed, but the price tag definitely reflects that.
For the cover, Zinus went with a knitted jacquard fabric. Its a pretty basic cover as well no bells and whistles. Its soft and comfortable, but it is a little loose. That may not be a huge deal once you put sheets on the bed.
Like with most bed-in-a-box mattresses, its not recommended that you machine wash the cover. Instead, if it happens to get dirty, spot clean it with a mild detergent.
