Nucleic Acids Dna And Rna
The job of nucleic acids is to store and transmit hereditary information. A nucleic acid is a chain of nucleotides that consists of a pentose, a phosphate group, and a nitrogenous base. A pentose is a type of sugar and a phosphate group is a molecule in the backbone of DNA and RNA that links adjoining bases together. A nitrogenous base is a molecule found in DNA and RNA that encodes the genetic information in cells. There are five types of nitrogenous bases: adenine, cytosine, guanine, thymine, and uracil. Adenine, cytosine, and guanine are found in both DNA and RNA, while thymine is unique to DNA and uracil to RNA.
DNA is most often seen in a structure known as the double helix. This complex is able to form because weak bonds are able to form between the hydrogen atoms and oxygen or nitrogen atoms between bases in the complementary strands of DNA. This kind of weak bond is called a hydrogen bond because one partner in the bond is always a hydrogen atom. In DNA, adenine always pairs with thymine , and guanine always pairs with cytosine .

How To Study Effectively
When studying for your TEAS test, you not only want to be committed to setting aside plenty of time, but you also want to be sure that during that time, you are actually studying in the most effective way.
How can you know if your study time is effective? Well, one of the best ways to check is by taking a free TEAS practice test. Practice tests allow you to gauge how prepared you are for the actual test. Not only will a TEAS sample test help you gauge how prepared you are, but it will also show you exactly which areas are your weakest.
After you take a TEAS practice test, ask yourself the following questions:
- Which TEAS questions did I miss?
- Were there questions I was unsure of, even though I got them right?
- Which questions were hard to understand and took the longest?
When you ask yourself these questions, it will help expose the areas that you struggle with the most so that you know which areas need more attention during your study time. It may also be helpful for you to pinpoint exactly why you struggled with specific questions. Did you find the material hard to comprehend? Were you unfamiliar with some of the words and their meanings? Should you spend more time practicing a specific type of TEAS question to familiarize yourself and build speed? Really try using these questions to uncover any limitations as you continue to work through the material.

For Ati Teas Science Prep Theres A Bit Of Good News And Bad News
Bad News The TEAS has a TON of science questions that are fair game.
What does this mean? On the TEAS science section, you could see a question about ionic bonds and the periodic table, zygote formation and cell differentiation, endocrine system dysfunctions, acid-base reactions, and specific cells in the epidermis.
Its like taking your chemistry final, your biology final, and your anatomy and physiology final all at once. Yikes!
You could get lost in what you might be tested on the TEAS. Odds are, youll waste time, feel overwhelmed, and start doubting yourself. No thanks.
But theres good news!
Good News The TEAS emphasizes specific scientific concepts.
If you use a TEAS science study guide to help you master these concepts first, you can forget worrying about the rest. In fact, if you focus on whats emphasized, its possible to boost your score quite a bit while reducing the overall number topics you actually need to study!
A prioritized framework for studying for the TEAS Science test means that you can breeze through specific questions, which gives you more time for the harder ones.
So what should you study first? For your TEAS science review, start with Anatomy and Physiology. If you need help picking a body system, start with the cardiovascular system, then tackle the respiratory system. The endocrine and immune systems are some of the most challenging, so you officially have my permission to study these last.

Key Ideas And Details
At 22 questions total, the Key Ideas and Details category is the longest of the Reading section. Skills under this category include properly identifying sequential patterns within a work simplifying a lengthy or complicated with into a brief synopsis picking out information from various types of sources upon request creating inferences based upon texts youve read comprehend and obey directions given to you and recognize the evidence, central theme, and subject of a written work.
The best way to approach this question category is, again, to read closely. You dont want to risk missing any important information and wind up making a careless mistake on a question. Go over a passage twice to ensure youve absorbed all the text and can easily refer to it as you need for specific questions. Reading closely also applies heavily to instruction-centered questions, as missing even one step can cause you to miss the question entirely.
Register At Least Two Weeks Ahead Of Time
Another smart TEAS test tip is to register for the exam early. While you can do plenty of independent preparation beforehand, ATI may send you a study guide and other important materials once you do officially register for the test.
Providing yourself with that extra time can help you stay calm and collected as you parse through the study guide materials. Going into the test stressed out will only lead to more stress when it matters most to keep a calm head.
