First, well make the Peach Simple Syrup.

Start by removing the skin from the peaches.

Slice peaches thin, discarding the pit.

Next, add peaches, 1 cup water, and 1 cup granulated sugar to a small saucepan and bring to a boil.

Crush the peaches and let simmer for 10 min.

How Is This Peach Iced Tea Naturally Sweetened

Most of the common iced tea recipes require either cane sugar/syrup, brown sugar, honey or maple syrup. With this recipe I wanted to go for a natural sweetener and decided to use medjool dates. To incorporate that sweetness into the tea you can either add them when simmering your peaches or add them when steeping the black tea. Personally, I find that peaches add a fair amount of sweetness on their own, so instead of simmering the dates, I just steeped them with the black tea. This tones down he sweetness of the tea and has the added benefit of allowing you to retain the beautiful fresh peach colors.

  • Green tea bag Steep for 3-4 minutes.

NOTE: If you use tea leaves, we use this to steep the leaves in the pot with the peaches.

How To Make Peach Syrup For Tea

To make peach syrup for iced tea, combine sugar, water, and sliced peaches in a saucepan. Bring to a boil, then let simmer on low for 15-20 minutes, occasionally pressing on the peaches with a wooden spoon to break them up.

Let the peaches and syrup cool, then strain through a fine mesh strainer. Pressing too firmly on the peaches will cause the syrup to be cloudy. The strained peaches can be reserved to served over oatmeal, ice cream, or on top of a goat cheese crostini

How Do You Make Peach Iced Tea From Scratch

Easy Homemade Peach Iced Tea Recipe

This peach tea recipe is a true classic. For a more robust flavor, use peaches in season. The trick is to wait until they are very ripe. Thats when they are sweet, juicy, and most flavorful.

In addition to brewing your favorite black tea, all you need to do is add pureed peaches to the brew.

You might be tempted to use a low-quality supermarket tea, but don’t do it. You’ll be disappointed with the results. Even though fruit is added, you still taste the tea.

You also might be tempted to use store-bought peach nectar as a shortcut or store-bought peach juice instead of fresh pureed peaches. Maybe you think no one will know you added store-bought juice, but you’re cheating yourself from all the delicious flavor and nutrients gained from using fresh and whole foods. The more food is processed, the more nutrients are lost.

I like to use a Nilgiri or Ceylon black tea blend. Nilgiri and Ceylon teas yield bright and brisk liquors. A light and smooth black tea blended perfectly for iced tea, which is what is intended. Nilgiri high mountain teas tend to be very forgiving – they do not turn bitter if over-brewed.

The art of the brew is learning how to balance these flavors just right. The fruit flavor should complement the tea flavor and not overpower it.

    Pro Tips:

    • Use fruits in season. They are usually tastier, fresher, and more nutritious.
    • Don’t use poor-quality tea. Always use the freshest and best quality tea you can afford.
    • Add lemon juice.

    Why lemon juice?

  • 2Brew some tea. Pour the other 16 cups of water into a pot. Bring it to a boil. Add your tea bags or loose tea. Steep your tea for four to five minutes. If using loose tea, pour the tea through a strainer into a pitcher. Otherwise, throw out the tea bags and pour the tea directly into a pitcher.XResearch source
  • If making iced tea, place the pitcher in the refrigerator to start cooling it down until the simple syrup has finished steeping.
  • 3Strain your syrup. Once your syrup has steeped for 30 minutes, set a container on the counter. If the opening is narrow, set it in the sink in case you spill any syrup as you pour. Pour the syrup through a strainer into the container.XResearch source
  • The sliced peaches can either be discarded or used as a topping for oatmeal, pancakes, ice cream, yogurt, or whatever you like.
  • 4Serve your tea. Pour the simple syrup into your pitcher of tea and stir to combine. Alternately, serve the tea by itself to guests, with the simple syrup on the side. Allow each to add as much syrup as they like.XResearch source

How To Make Peach Sweet Tea

If I like the Iced Mango Tea , I think like this Peach Tea even more. Talk about refreshment on a hot day!

The trick I learned since starting to play with fruity tea recipes is that it works best if we add just a tiny bit of honey or sugar to the fruit and water while we bring it to a boil. This brings out the natural sweetness and great flavor of the fruit. I wondered if this might make the tea too sweet for my liking . But I find it to be just right. On the other hand, my husband , doesnt mind drinking this tea as-is, without any added sugar beyond the tiny bit of honey I add to the fruit during the boiling process.

Experiment with this and see if you can also cut down on the sugar by letting the fruit do the job naturally!

    Clingstone Vs Freestone Peaches

How to Make Peach Iced Tea | Homemade Peach Iced Tea Recipe ð?ð?¹

The early part of the season produces Clingstone Peaches. Then the Semi-Freestone peaches are ready to be harvested. Finally, the Freestone peaches are collected.

Basically, Freestone refers to a peach with a stone easily removed from the flesh. The flesh is not attached to the stone and doesn’t need to be cut to free the stone. Freestone varieties are best for making homemade peach tea when removal of the stone is done by hand.

Clingstone refers to a peach with a stone not easily removed from the flesh. The flesh is attached strongly to the stone and must be cut to free the stone from the peach.

Clingstone varieties tend to be more tender and juicy throughout. Sometimes they are preferred for jams and general eating. They make delicious peach iced tea.

What if I like my tea really strong? If you like your tea stronger, you can do that one of two ways. You can add more tea bags, or you can allow your tea bags to steep longer. Just make sure DO NOT SQUEEZE your tea bags. This will cause the tea to be bitter

Can I make this without added sugar?Yeppers, you sure can! If you want to make your peach tea without added sugar, just make sure to puree some peaches and then add those to the steeping tea.

Why is my tea watery? If your tea tastes water that can be one of a few things. You couldve not put enough tea bags for the amount of water. Or you couldve not let your tea cool down enough before adding your ice cubes. That will definitely make for some watery tea.
