Studies using animal models show that green tea catechins provide some protection against degenerative diseases . Some studies indicated that green tea has an antiproliferative activity on hepatoma cells and a hypolipidemic activity in hepatoma-treated rats, as well as the prevention of hepatoxicity and as a preventive agent against mammary cancer post-initiation . Green tea catechins could also act as antitumorigenic agents and as immune modulators in immunodysfunction caused by transplanted tumors or by carcinogen treatment . Moreover, green tea, its extract, and its isolated constituents were also found to be effective in preventing oxidative stress and neurological problems .
The effectiveness of green tea in treating any type of diarrhea and typhoid has been known in Asia since ancient times . Green tea catechins have an inhibitory effect on Helicobacter pylori infection . Effects of green tea against the influenza virus, especially in its earliest stage, as well as against the Herpes simplex virus have also been demonstrated . Furthermore, Weber et al. observed that adenovirus infection is inhibited in vitro by green tea catechins.
Green Tea Might Help Fight Off Cancer
Your cells naturally accumulate oxidative damage during regular cell metabolism. A class of molecules called antioxidants can prevent or even reverse that damage. One of the most powerful antioxidants is called epigallocatechin gallate, and it is found in high levels in green tea. Epigallocatechin gallate has been shown to reduce the growth of breast and prostate tumors .

Arizona Tea Ingredients: Weakening The Body
Arizona Green Tea can seem like a pick me up drink made from natural ingredients. And it is made from natural ingredients, though not always what is claimed .
The problem is mainly the insane amount of sugar. Because of that, the long term implications on the health of a person make this drink anything but a pick me up or healthy.
The sugars present in Arizona green tea break down in different parts of the body. The Fructose is broken down in the liver, while the glucose enters the blood.
The bodys response to glucose is a steady release of insulin to absorb its energy. An excessive amount of glucose can cause the body to overcompensate and release high levels of insulin. This can build up an insulin resistance in the body.
Over time, this can develop into type 2 diabetes. The same study discussed above also determines other ill effects of fructose consumption in high quantities. Since Fructose is mainly broken up in the liver, excessively high intake can deteriorate health quickly.
It leads to increases in body weight, causes fatty liver, gout problems, diabetes and a hiked up uric acid production in the body.
High uric acid can be a painful condition that leads to sore joints. Even a teenager can feel like they have the joints of 70 years old with uncontrollably high uric acid levels.
In short, it is safe to assume that in the long run, Arizona Green Tea is not good for your body or teeth, especially if you consume substantial amounts of it daily.
What Is Green Tea
Tea comes in different varieties, but all are derived from the same plant. Green, black, white, and oolong tea are produced from the Camellia sinensis plant.
Green tea is manufactured by steaming the leaves of the Camellia sinensis plant. It does not go through the same fermentation process used to make other types of tea, such as oolong or black tea, so it retains more of the antioxidants and nutrients found in the plant leaves.

Green Tea Can Boost Brain Function
Green tea naturally contains caffeine, which can increase attentiveness, alertness, and cognitive performance, and decrease reaction time. These stimulant effects of caffeine occur because caffeine blocks an inhibitory neurotransmitter known as adenosine. In doing so, caffeine increases firing rates between neurotransmitters as well as the concentration of dopamine and other neurotransmitters.
Green tea also contains L-theanine, an amino acid that further increases dopamine levels and works synergistically with caffeine to improve brain function.

How Did Lipton Green Tea Start
Tea is one of the most widely consumed beverages in the world, ranking second only to water. Thomas Lipton, the man behind the Lipton company, was a Scotsman who was a self-made merchant.
According to Liptons website, his business began as a single grocery shop in 1871. Still, gradually with a vision of growth and a brilliant sense of marketing, Sir Thomas grew his business until he owned more than 200 shops.
Around 1890, Sir Thomas bought his tea plantations in Sri Lanka, formerly known as Ceylon. With 5,500 acres of land and an efficient and organized production method, the company launched the first packaged Lipton tea.
Eventually, incorporation as a Thomas J Lipton Co. in 1893 would take place. In 1938, the worlds largest consumer goods company, Unilever, acquired a portion of the Lipton tea business, and in 1972, Unilever became the full owner of Lipton.
In 1991, Unilever and PepsiCo entered into a deal whereby each company owns 50% of Lipton. Lipton Green Tea product is a product under Liptons brand name, and there is no specific information about when the company began producing it.

What To Eat With Green Tea For Breakfast
First, its better not to drink green tea on empty stomach, as it contains caffeine that may harm your stomach and increase acidity. So to avoid that try eating breakfast before having a cup of green tea. However, to lose weight and benefit from the high metabolism that the green tea will give after drinking, here are some ideas of low-calorie foods to enjoy before drinking your tea:
- Whole fruits with a low glycemic index like oranges and berries. Avoid drinking juices that have added sugar.
- Foods rich in fibers like vegetables to provide your body with needed nutrients and essential vitamins.
- Healthy carbs like oatmeal to satisfy your hunger for a long time and keep yourblood sugar steady.
- Protein-rich foods like eggs and lean meat. However, your intestines digest proteins slowly, which help you feel full for a long time.
Note that after eating breakfast, never drink green tea immediately. In fact, green tea can cause indigestion as it will dilute your gastric juice. However, to avoid that, wait for about 30 minutes before enjoying your cup of tea.

Evidence Of Green Teas Benefits
Green tea contains antioxidants that are beneficial to overall health. There is, however, a need to critically evaluate the specific claims of it enabling weight loss and healthy ageing, preventing cancer and improving brain function.
Green tea is heavily promoted for its effects on burning fat and enhancing metabolism. The proposition is based on the observation that catechins in tea prevent obesity by increasing thermogenesis. Nevertheless, clinical trials have not tested this hypothesis. Almost all commercially available fat burners contain green tea extract as an ingredient. These fat burners have dangerous side effects as well.
Green tea is also associated with a reduced risk of diabetes. One meta-analysis studied 17 randomised controlled trials and concluded that green tea reduced fasting glucose and glycated haemoglobin two biomarkers of type 2 diabetes. Similar results were observed in a retrospective cohort study from Japan involving 17,413 participants. However, the limitations include self-reported diabetes and lack of consideration for other dietary factors.
The evidence does not support green tea as a superfood to cure all ailments. A wide variety of other foods are available with excellent antioxidant profiles and nutrients that may provide similar health benefits.

After hours of fasting, you should be having something light and soothing that wakes up your metabolism. Green tea contains strong antioxidants and strong polyphenols which can increase the production of stomach acid and disturb the digestion. It is ideal if you have it between meals or post having food.

Effect Of Egcg On Diabetes
A study by Waltner-Law et al. provided compelling in vitro evidence that EGCG decreases glucose production of H4IIE rat hepatoma cells. The investigators showed that EGCG mimics insulin, increases tyrosine phosphorylation of the insulin receptor and the insulin receptor substrate, and reduces gene expression of the gluconeogenic enzyme phosphoenolpyruvate carboxykinase. Recently, green tea and green tea extracts were demonstrated to modify glucose metabolism beneficially in experimental models of type II diabetes mellitus . In addition, EGCG ameliorates cytokine-induced cell damage in vitro and prevents the decrease of islet mass induced by treatment with multiple low doses of streptozotocin in vivo .
Lambert et al. showed that intragastric administration of EGCG at a dose of 75 mg/kg resulted in a Cmax of 128 mg/l total plasma EGCG and a terminal half-life of 83 minutes. Furthermore, in humans an oral intake of EGCG at a dose of 50 mg resulted in a Cmax of 130 mg/l total plasma EGCG and a terminal half-life of 112 minutes . These results indicate that rodents must be orally administered 100- to 600-fold more EGCG to achieve similar plasma concentrations as those found in humans. Total plasma EGCG concentrations shown to be efficacious in mice and rats can be reached by an intake of low to moderate doses of EGCG in humans.
May Promote Brain Health
Early research suggests that certain compounds in black tea, such as theaflavins, may be used as a treatment or preventative therapy for degenerative brain illnesses.
One recent test-tube study revealed that black tea compounds inhibited the function of certain enzymes responsible for the progression of Alzheimers disease .
Although encouraging, this study is one of the first of its kind. More research is needed to better understand black teas role in supporting healthy brain function.
Summary
Various compounds in black tea may play a role in preventing chronic diseases, including cancer and Alzheimers, as well as supporting heart and immune function.
Although Assam tea makes for a healthy beverage for most people, it may not be appropriate for everyone.
