The Capital Area School of Practical Nursing requires prospective students to take the ATI Test of Essential Academic Skills pre-entrance examination. All applicants are required to take and pass the pre-entrance examination regardless of college hours or ACT scores. Applicants may take the TEAS exam three times per calendar year.However, TWO WEEKS must have passed since your last exam date before you can test again. You must achieve an individual score of 54% in each portion of the exam excluding Science. Therefore a score of 54% in Mathematics, 54% in Reading Comprehension, and a 54% in English along with a score of 40.4% in Science must be achieved to be considered a passing score.
The first step to requesting an exam date is to apply to our program. This requires the Personal Information Form, or Online Application, and the Release of Criminal Background Form, found in the application packet, along with the $75.00 application fee. If you have not paid the application fee and submitted the required forms, your request to take the exam will be DENIED AND YOU WILL NOT BE REFUNDED IF IT HAS BEEN PAID ONLINE.
Applicants must pay the examination fee AT LEAST one week in advance to schedule an exam date. If CASPN has not received payment by the week prior to your exam date, you will not be allowed to take the exam on the requested date and it is up to you to reschedule your TEAS exam.
The final step to requesting an exam date is to register.

Unfortunately, life has a tendency to throw a wrench into plans. And the name of todays wrench is the Test of Essential Academic Skills exam. Heres the good news: a low TEAS score doesnt mean youre completely out of luck. We gathered advice from Rasmussen College Nursing faculty and staff to help you plan out your potential next steps.

What Should I Do On The Day Of The Teas Exam
Before you know it, the day youve been preparing for will be here. This is where all of your nights spent studying for the TEAS test will pay off. But there are still a few final things you can do on that day to set you up for success.
Make sure you get a good nights sleep and eat a well-balanced breakfast the morning of your exam. Some of the best foods for your brain include eggs, salmon, green tea and acai berries. Additionally, it is important to stay hydrated and keep your body running smoothly.
If youre unfamiliar with the testing location, take the time to scout out the area ahead of timeyou dont want to find out at the last second if parking space is limited and you now need an extra ten minutes to get settled. Youve got enough on your mind that you dont need minor worries adding unnecessary stress.
Finally, if you take nothing else from these day-of preparations, remember this one: Do not be late! ATI will not let you begin the test after the designated start time. There are also a few things ATI requires that you bring along with you on exam day: a No. 2 pencil, your registration receipt with the ATI testing ID number and a valid photo ID.
