Dealing With People Who Twist Your Words

We may get commissions for purchases made through links in this post.

I like a good debate, even if I come to realize Im wrong. How else do we learn anything? But the quickest way to turn a healthy debate into an unhealthy debacle is to have it with someone who will twist your words around until they mean something else.

Then he argues that point, completely ignoring what you really said.

It Went Viral After A Convenience Store Altercation

Twisted Tea gained more popularity when one particular video went viral in late 2020. In the clip in question, according to VinePair, a man named Barry Allen is seen getting involved in a verbal altercation with an intoxicated man in a Ohio convenience store. The man repeatedly hurled racial slurs at Allen, who is Black, and also threatened Allen’s family members and asked invasive questions.

The guy made it very clear in the video that he wasn’t going to stop, so Allen took things into his own hands literally. He picked up a 22-ounce can of Twisted Tea and smacked the man right across the face, hard enough to make the can explode. This led to a physical fight, while the video itself led to a variety of memes about Twisted Tea as a weapon of choice. It also garnered some celebrity treatment for Allen, at least on some social media platforms and news sites.

“I called my wife as soon as I got in the car, and I told her I hit a guy in the face with a can, and she’s like, ‘I know, I’m watching it,'” Allen told the podcast “.” After the incident, Allen was nicknamed “Mr. TeaKO” by the internet, as well as the Twisted Tea Guy, and has since used his platform to speak out about racism like what he experienced in the original TeaKO incident.

Twisted Tea: A Review

Hard iced teas can often go in one of two directions: either the alcohol content is so strong that its overpowering, or the drink is super sweet. We recommend drinking it in moderation, not only because of the alcohol but because of the high sugar content that is easy to forget.

Do All Materials Conduct Heat In The Same Way

Twisted Tea

This investigation will show the learners that metals conduct heat better than non-metals. If possible, watch the Veritasium video provided in the visit link before class about the misconceptions surrounding temperature and which demonstrates this activity. Start off by asking learners to feel the blocks and ask which one feels colder. The aluminium block will feel colder. Then ask them which block they think will melt the ice cube the fastest. as in the video, most people think that the ice cube will melt faster on the plastic block as it feels warmer than the aluminium block. However, this is a misconception, and will be demonstrated in the activity that it is in fact the aluminium block which causes the ice cube to melt faster as metals are a better conductors of heat.

Check Out These Hilarious Tweets About That Twisted Tea Video

Have you been bombarded on social media with memes about Twisted Tea? Have you seen Twisted Tea trending online everywhere and you’re not sure why? Allow me to explain. Our story begin in Elyria, Ohio in Circle K store. The video, which originally was posted onto Reddit’s r/PublicFreakout page, shows a white man confronting at black man while getting ready to. The white man, who is very nonchalant using the N word, challenges the black man to “smack him” with the Twisted tea… the man in the hoodie obliges.

There’s a longer, more explicit version of the video, but I think we see enough with the video above.

As you can imagine, the video has gone viral and has even garnered a a few remixes, this one is my favorite:

According to Heavy.com, Elyria police say the incident wasn’t reported to them, but they are aware, and have seen, the video. No one has been charged, although the Elyria Police Lieutenant has seen the video and believes he know who the men are. However, abiding by the “snitches get stitches” rule, no one has come forward with details.

Did the drunk white guy deserve it? Yeah, most definitely! Should Twisted Tea sponsor the man in the hoodie? Heck yes. Twisted Tea should be looking to see how they can market this literal can of whoop ass to the masses. In honor of this viral video, check out some of my favorite memes that have been born thanks to this viral video.

“We’ve been involved with NASCAR for a few years, and we know that Richard Childress Racing, Germain Racing and Ty Dillon are the best of the best, and we couldn’t ask for a better team to race with,” Senior Director, Head of Marketing Michelle Sullivan told NASCAR at the time. “Our team members and Twisted Tea drinkers are fiercely loyal NASCAR fans, and we wanted to partner with a team and driver who share the same commitment to a captivating race day whether it be on the actual race track or with a twisted tailgate featuring Twisted Tea.”

What If Its Your Boss / Parent / Authority Figure

Its trickier when youre dealing with someone who can penalize you just for standing up for yourself, even if youre right. One obvious solution is to avoid arguing with this person.

Just nod politely and bow out of any arguments they start as quickly as possible. If they wont let you do that, or doing that could make the situation worse:

Enlist allies. Rarely do these people only annoy or harass just one person. Check with co-workers, your other parent, other students, etc., to see if they feel its hard to communicate with the person.

Remember your words might get back to the person, so choose them with care in case youre forced to explain them later.

Twist their words first. Youd be surprised how many of these people are powerless to escape from their own trap when its turned on them. Pay attention to how they do it and learn those techniques.

Learn from people who dont let this person twist their words. Look for people who are able to dominate the person for reasons other than having authority over them. If the person doesnt pull this stuff on some of his friends, observe how they keep him leashed and see what you can learn.

Theres nothing you can do with a bully/bigot. If you find this person doesnt pull this on everyone, but just on people like you , then youre dealing with a bully or bigot.
