Where Can I Buy Essiac Tea
Essiac tea can be found online or in some health food stores. Look for reputable companies and organic ingredients.
Essiac tea can be purchased in many ways. Currently, Essaic can be found in a bulk tea form to prepare yourself at home. It can be purchased in capsules. It can be bought in bottles of ready made tea.
The best way to buy Essiac is to buy an organic blend of Essiac, or buy each herb individually and mix it yourself. Making Essiac yourself will give you the assurance that is is the strength you desire. This will also be the least expensive option.
Essiac capsules are relatively new on the market. Capsules were never part of the way Essiac was originally used. While convenient, there are many problems with the capsule form of Essiac. First of all, Essiac tea is boiled for ten minutes and then the herbs steeped for 12 hours. The boiling and steeping are critical for drawing out the needed herbal properties from the herbs. Your body never reaches even half the temperature of boiling to extract the properties from the herbs. Taking herbal capsules works well in some health conditions with some herbs, but teas will do the work of extracting for you and will do it better than your body will do. Barks and roots especially need to be boiled to maximize their medicinal value.
Pre-bottled Essiac tea will be the most expensive option. If making the tea yourself is out of the question and you have a source for the bottled tea, then this may be a good option for you.
The Essiac Tea Recipe
- 6 ½ cups of burdock root
- 1 pound of sheep sorrel herb powdered
- 1/4 pound of slippery elm bark powdered
- 1 ounce of Turkish rhubarb root powdered
Mix these ingredients thoroughly and store in glass jar in dark dry cupboard.
Take a measuring cup, use 1 ounce of herb mixture to 32 ounces of water depending on the amount you want to make.
I use 1 cup of mixture to 8 x 32 = 256 ounces of water. Boil hard for 10 minutes then turn off heat but leave sitting on warm plate over night .
In the morning heat steaming hot and let settle a few minutes, then strain through fine strainer into hot sterilized bottles and sit to cool. Store in dark cool cupboard. Must be refrigerated when opened. When near the last when its thick pour in a large jar and sit in fridge overnight then pour off all you can without sediment.
This recipe must be followed exactly as written.
I use a granite preserving kettle , 8 ounce measuring cup, small funnel and fine strainer to fill bottles.
- 80g Sheep sorrel powdered whole plant including root
- 20g Slippery elm powdered inner bark
- 5g Turkey rhubarb powdered root
All together this makes 225g of dried herb tea mix
This mixture will store quite well in a clear glass jar with a screw on lid and keep in a cool, dry place. A large Mason jar works perfectly for this purpose.
- Stainless Steel, Enamelware or Glass Pot
- Glass measuring cup
- Stainless steel sieve
- Bottles or mason jars with lids
How To Make Essiac Tea: Additional Tips
- Do not try to brew essiac tea more than two weeks ahead: it will stay good for about 14 days, but after that you should make a fresh batch of tea. Shake the container well before pouring your dosages to disperse the herb particles throughout the tea.
- If you find it difficult to drink essiac straight, you may mix your essiac tea with natural fruit or vegetable juice or stevia. It’s recommended to consume essiac tea cold in order to avoid overcooking the tea after it’s been cooked the first time.
- The most consistent results over the years with essiac come when the doses are taken on an empty stomach. This means to avoid eating two hours before and one hour after administering essiac. However, if you must eat and take essiac at the same time, that is much better than skipping your essiac dose entirely.

Formula Variation And Dosing Based On Caisses Recipe
Caisse dedicated her life to perfecting the herbal formula.Unfortunately, though, much controversy surrounded the true formula because Rene Caisse never published the exact recipe during her lifetime. This was due to concern that lay people would make it incorrectly or that it would be commercially exploited. In her last years, Caisse gave the formula to the Resperin Company under the pretense that it would undergo clinical trials and that several Essiac clinics would be opened. However, the trials did not support Essiacs use in cancer and the clinics were never opened. Essiac therefore did not become a medical therapy and is instead sold as a nutritional or herbal supplement.
And while Resperin, and later Canadian Essiac, sold Essiac from Caisses recipe, several individuals also claimed to have the true Caisse formula despite the fact that Caisse reportedly shared the recipe with very few people. This led to confusion regarding the true formula. In 1994, though, Caisses best friend and helper, Mary McPherson, signed an affidavit confirming the actual formula used by Caisse. This is generally accepted as the true essiac tea recipe.
People will not stick to the dose I give. Theyll decide on their own, if a littles good, a lots better. Thats the way they think.
Essiac Tea Recipe And Ingredients Two Herbal Formulae
Essiac Tea Recipe #1: Dr. Gary Dunn and Mary Mcpherson Formula
This formula was released into the public domain after Dr. Gary Glum’s breakthrough book in 1988.
The story of Dr. Gary Glum himself is pretty amazing. According toreliable sources, Rene Caisse’s close friend and helper for more thanforty years, Mary Mcpherson, was the only person entrusted by Rene toknow the formula.
However, Mary had made a deathbed promise to Rene never to revealthe formula to anyone. Were it not for Dr. Gary Glum revealing theformula, she would have kept quiet about the Original formula.
Gary purchased the formula for $120,000 dollars from one of Rene’s former patients .
He later gave out the formula and recipe free of charge. Mary swore an affidavit on 23 December 1994 in Bracebridge, Ontario, Canada. The formula she gave out was identical to Gary’s.
Here is the formula:
1 pound of sheep sorrel herb powdered
6 and half cups of burdock root
4 ounces of slippery elm bark powdered
1 ounce of Turkey rhubarb root powdered
Essiac Tea Recipe #2: Sheila Snow and Mali Khan Formula
According to the Essiac Essentials, written by Sheila Snow and Mali Khan in 1999, the Essiac formula consists of four herbs. They are:
Entire dried and powdered sheep sorrel plant
Chopped and dried burdock root
Dried and powdered inner bark of the slippery elm tree
Dried and powdered root of the ornamental Turkey rhubarb plant
There are two points of note.
Firstly, the Essiac formula is a decoction, not a infusion.

How To Make Essiac Tea Decoction:
Step 1: Bring water to a boil. Two ounces of Essiac tea mix and five quarts of water should make one gallon of tea.
Step 2: Pour Essiac tea mix into boiling water. Steep, covered, at a medium boil for approximately ten minutes.
Step 3: Remove water with tea from heat. Collect the herbal matter from the sides of the pot and transfer back into the water, then cover. Allow the Essiac tea decoction to sit at room temperature for ten to twelve hours.
Step 4: Prepare jars to store your decoction. For a better shelf life, you should sterilize the jars using a canning kettle or large pot and boiling them for at least five minutes. Be sure to sterilize the lids of the jars as well.
Step 5: Reheat the Essiac tea decoction until it is steaming, but not boiling. Use a stove never microwave Essiac tea.
Step 6: Remove the decoction from heat and allow it to sit for around five minutes. This will allow the sediment to settle to the bottom of the pot.
Step 7: Pour the Essiac tea decoction into your previously prepared jars. Using a funnel and strainer is preferable but not necessary. Sediment in the bottom of the jars is normal even when straining and the sediment can be consumed as part of the tea.
Step 8: Allow the decoction to cool in the jars, then refrigerate to store.

Ml Herbal Tea Diluted In Either 30 Ml Or 60 Ml Hot Water Taken At Bedtime Or When You Get Up
How to make essiac tea from powder. Essiac is a pleasant-tasting four-herb tea that was developed from a native American cancer remedy by Canadian nurse Rene Caisse pronounced Reen Case. Slowly stir 12 cup 2oz of dried Essiac tea herbs with sheep sorrel roots into one gallon of unchlorinated filtered water at low boil making sure it doesnt boil over. If you find it difficult to drink essiac straight you may mix your essiac tea with all.
Your essiac will stay good for about 14 days but after that you should make a fresh batch of tea. Shake or stir the container well before pouring your dosages to disperse the herb particles throughout the tea. 80 g Sheep sorrel powdered 20 g Slippery elm powdered 5 g Turkey rhubarb.
25 liters of water in a covered vessel. Two quarts will last 16 days for an individual on the maintenance dose Shake the container well before pouring your dosages to disperse the herb particles throughout the tea. Heat a kettle of water and pour 4 tablespoons 60 ml of the boiling hot water into a tea cup or mug.
The good news is that it only takes 10 minutes once every two weeks to prepare this tea yourself from powdered herbs. Measure the tea from 1 of your prepared bottles and pour the tea into the boiling hot water. We have provided for you the essiac tea formula EXACTLY as it was intended by its founders made fresh to order and at a very fair price.
Most people consume essiac tea. Use filtered distilled or spring water. Do not use an aluminium vessel.
Why Is There Sludge At The Bottom Of My Container Can I Throw It Out
The herbs are important to consume as part of each dose. Therefore, please do not strain and throw out the particles at the bottom after you brew essiac tea. It’s important to get some of these particles into each and every dose. The most effective way to do this for most people is to use a large wooden spoon to stir the pitcher before pouring each dose. You can leave the lid off your container to make this more convenient. Stirring tends to work better than shaking especially when the pitcher is full.

Here Are The Rest Of The Instructions :
3. Turn the heat down to medium and let the tea simmer for ten minutes, stirring occasionally. You may keep a cover on the pan with just a bit of air exposed to reduce evaporation, but it’s not necessary.
4. Turn the heat off, cover the pan completely, and leave the mixture sitting at room temperature for twelve hours.
5. After the 12 hours have passed, stir the tea vigorously to disperse the remnants of the herbs throughout the mixture* and pour it into a container of your choice. Open top containers work well for convenience when you need to stir the tea before pouring each dose to distribute the herbs that have settled. Refrigerate the tea. You can use any type of jar or pitcher that you’d normally use for iced tea.
