What Is A Starbuckschai Tea Latte Made Of

How I Make An Ice Chai Tea Latte Like Starbucks
  • Chai Tea Bag: Almost every tea brand has its own version of Chai. I recommend using Tazo or Teavana Chai Tea.
  • Water: Youll need boiled water to steep your tea.
  • Milk: You have quite a few milk options when it comes to this recipe. The Starbucks original recipe uses 2% milk and the easiest dairy-free match would be soy. However, you can use pretty any milk you like such as almond or oat milk.
  • Sugar: Since youll be adding the sugar into hot water, granulated sugar works just fine as it will dissolve easily. If youre looking for a healthy substitute, try Stevia, but since its much sweeter than sugar, add just 1/4 teaspoon to start. You could also substitute honey in a 1:1 ratio with sugar.
  • Cinnamon: Ground cinnamon will be used both in the latte itself and as a garnish to give your latte a beautiful finish.

Heres How Starbucks Makes A Grande Iced Chai Latte

There are only three ingredients in a Starbucks iced chai latte:

  • Highly concentrated chai concentrate
  • Ice
  • Directions for a grande iced chai latte

    • Add 4 pumps of chai concentrate directly into the cup
    • Add milk up to the third black line cup marking
    • Fill the cup with ice and give it a swirl to mix

Now, take a careful look at the photo below.

Notice that the four pumps of concentrate comes up to the first clear line on the cup.

I did a little experiment to see how much liquid it takes to get to that line and its cup.

Next, Starbucks baristas add milk up to the third black line on the cold cup. To get from the clear line to the third black line takes an additional 1 cup of liquid.

Finally, fill the remaining space with ice. A quick swirl of the cup mixes the ingredients together nicely.

How To Make The Best Iced Chai Latt

I like to cold-steep my tea for at least a few hours, though sometimes I leave it all day. The beauty of cold-steeping is that the tea stays mellow and smooth even if you forget about it for a while.

I think four bags of tea per quart of water makes a nice spicy cup of iced chai. I recommend starting there, but if you think you’d like your chai lighter or stronger, just adjust the number of tea bags as needed.

I sweeten my chai lattes with a quick honey syrup made of equal parts honey and water. A syrup like this mixes more easily into the tea than straight honey.

    Emma Christensen

You could mix the syrup with the full batch of chai once it’s finished steeping, but I prefer to mix them in the glass. That way I can adjust the sweetness to my taste, or to the taste of any guests who happen to wander by in need of a cool, refreshing beverage.

Top off your glass of iced chai with as much or as little milk as you like. Creaminess is a highly personal decision. I like to use whole milk, but 2% milk, almond milk, or coconut milk are all lovely.

One final thought: If you like to sip your iced tea slowly and don’t want it to get watered down with ice cubes, make an extra batch of chai and freeze it into ice cubes!

How To Make Chai Tea Concentrate From Tea Bags

    Chai Tea Latte, Tazo® Classic

    June 19, 2018 by Jessica

Make your own chai tea latte concentrate at home from tea bags! Cheaper than store bought concentrate with no extra ingredients. Simply mix with milk and pour over ice or keep it warm for a homemade chai tea latte!

My cousin initially introduced me to chai tea lattes in high school and my life was forever changed.

Seriously, I made it my mission in college to find the best chai tea latte in College Station.

To this day, one sip;of it takes me back to her kitchen in Austin. Whenever I go visit I always know the fridge will be stocked with milk and chai tea latte concentrate to make our own chai tea lattes each morning.

With Texas heat nearing the 100s, most mornings Im having either homemade cold brew coffee or a chai tea latte. You can buy chai tea concentrate at the store or you can make your own from tea bags.

In a pinch I love Tazos chai tea latte concentrate, but I also know that it packs 16g/sugar per 1/2 cup serving. Yikes. You can either make this chai tea latte concentrate sugar free or use any your sweetener of choice!

    Chai Tea Latte Recipe

The Starbucks Chai Tea Latte recipe I am sharing with you today, is made with only two ingredients:

  • Tazo Chai Tea Latte Base.; This base is sold at some large supermarkets, such as Walmart, Target, Earth Fare;or you can ;.
  • Milk. By default Starbucks uses 2% milk for almost all hot beverages. However, you can use whole or skim milk, or try using dairy-free alternatives .

Why Is This Recipe Even Better Than Starbucks

This is not an exact Starbucks chai tea latte recipe. Its even better.

    1. Sugar

When you order an iced chai latte at Starbucks, they are using a pre-made spiced syrup as their base. It includes the tea, the spices, and the sugar all in one shot, so customizing this drink gets tricky. If I order a syrup-based drink at Starbucks, I always order it half sweet, but if you order a chai latte half sweet it doesnt turn out well at all!

The spices really play a starring role with chai, and Bummer! Making this iced chai tea latte recipe at home instead allows you to spice it up while avoiding a massive sugar bomb .

    2. Cost

Another great reason to make it at home is obvious: the price! If I were going to use Starbucks to fuel my love for iced chai tea lattes, Id have to figure out how to grow a money tree in the backyard first. I dont have $4-5 to spend on something that I crave daily, thats for darn sure.

    3. Simplicity

Not all popular Starbucks drinks happen to be this dead easy to make at home. One of my winter faves, for example, is my Gingerbread Latte recipe, and it requires making the syrup ahead of time, as well as steaming the milk when serving. Iced tea lattes dont require steaming the milk, and you can choose to make the tea from scratch or just use pre-made chai tea bags both work.

When you have a simple recipe like this on hand, youll head out for a Starbucks iced chai latte less often.

Does A Chai Latte Have Caffeine

How to Make an Iced Chai Tea Latte!

Yes, chai lattes have caffeine since they are made using black tea.

However, you can adapt the recipe if you are trying to avoid caffeine. For example, you can substitute the black tea for rooibos.

Unfortunately, Starbucks does not have a decaffeinated chai latte on their menu.

If youre interested, heres a look at the amount of caffeine in each Starbucks tea.

How Many Calories Are In A Masala Chai Latte

The majority of calories in a masala chai latte come from the milk and sweetener. The spices, black tea and water virtually have no calories.

Therefore, calorie content in this tea latte varies a lot depending on the amount and type of milk and sweetener added.

But to give you a ballpark idea of how many calories are in a masala chai latte, a grande Starbucks chai latte made with chai concentrate and 2% milk is 240 calories.

Now that you know the basics of masala chai, let me show you exactly how Starbucks makes an iced chai latte.

How Starbucks Makes Iced Chai Latte

There are 3 ingredients in a Starbucks Iced Chai Latte:

    • Chai concentrate,
    • 2% milk; and
    • Ice.

They fill about ⅓ of the cup with chai concentrate, then pour a cup of milk and fill the rest with ice.

Now, if you try to copy this, with most chai concentrates youll get a very weak iced chai latte. Starbucks chai concentrate is not for sale, and most concentrates ask for a 1:1 concentrate to milk ratio.

Dont try to copy the proportions above with 1:1 store-bought or this homemade chai concentrate.

Starbucks also uses triple filtered water for theirs, but I doubt everyone can triple filter their water . If you can, use filtered water for making ice.

Dont have a filter? Boil the water for 5 minutes and wait for it to cool, or leave a jar with water sitting in the counter overnight. That gets rid of the chlorine and makes a better-tasting ice.

There are two milestones in the lifetime of a pot of coffee. One occurs at the age of 30 minutes, when the coffee cools and loses flavor. The next is after about four hours, when the oils go bad and the coffee becomes more acidic. But drinking hours-old coffee isnt dangerous, even if it might make baristas shudder.

    1. Pour the Tazo Chai Tea Latte Base into a serving cup.

    2. Warm up the milk on a stovetop or in a microwave until very hot. Froth the milk .

    3. Pour the milk into the cup with Chai Tea Base. Garnish with ground cinnamon if desired. Serve.

    Ingredients:

Note: There a difference between a regular store-bought chai tea compared to a highly concentrated chai tea blend that some specialized coffee or tea shop use. I enjoy buying Chai from grocery stores, but after discovering Lamills highly concentrated Chai, I prefer it a little bit more nowadays.

    Instructions:

  • Take 2 tbsp of loose leaf tea and combine it with hot water. Let the tea steep for about 3 5 minutes.
  • Then let it cool for a little bit while you prepare a glass cup, ice cubes, milk, and vanilla syrup.
  • Strain the Chai into a glass cup. Then add ice cubes.
  • Carefully pour the milk and add 1 tbsp of vanilla syrup into the glass cup. .
  • Stir and enjoy it!;
  • Optional: Add tapioca pearls to create a Chai boba latte drink. I use this brand from amazon because it only takes less than five minutes to cook.

DIY STARBUCKS DRINKS | CHAI LATTE TWO WAYS!

What is in a chai frappuccino?

Chai frappuccino ingredients include chai concentrate , whole milk, ice, xanthan gum, sugar, salt, whipped cream and cinnamon.

Does a chai frappuccino have caffeine?

Yes, chai frappuccinos have caffeine since they contain black tea. A grande size Chai Crème Frappuccino from Starbucks has 40 mg of caffeine. Tazo Classic Chai Latte concentrate has 61+ mg per 8 ounces.

Do frappuccinos have coffee in them?

Starbucks has two types of frappuccinos: Coffee and Crème. Coffee frappuccinos are coffee or espresso based. On the other hand, crème frappuccinos contain no coffee or espresso and are made using crème frappuccino syrup.

Can you get a skinny chai frappuccino?

You can request a few things to make a skinny or lighter version of a chai frappuccino. First you can request to use 2% or non-fat milk. Whole milk is the default for crème frappuccinos. You can also request no whipped cream. If you are making a homemade chai frappuccino, Tazo sells a skinny version of the chai latte concentrate. Starbucks does not have skinny chai concentrate.

What does a chai frappuccino taste like?

A chai frappuccino is a beverage blended with ice and emulsifier that is certainly thicker than a cup of tea but not nearly as thick as a milkshake. The spicy chai flavors are blended with milk giving it a warm, spicy cream flavor. Yet the frappuccino is a cold beverage since its blended with ice.

Ingredient Starbucks Iced Chai Tea Latte

      12:45 pm by Chahinez

This Starbucks iced chai tea latte copycat recipe is the perfect two-ingredient drink to combat the summer heat. Inspired by the iconic Starbucks chai iced drink this recipe used one of my favorite store-bought chai tea concentrate to bring you those delicious flavors right at home.

Believe it or not, the first time I tried chai latte was not at Starbucks but at the Bouchon Bakery where I worked for a while. A coworker, now friend made it for me to try and right away fell in love with it!

Since I was still in college then, I started grabbing one of my favorite drinks from Starbucks because it was easily accessible right on campus.

Thinking about the amount of money I spent there during that period makes me nauseous though!! I was already a broke college student and my Chai tea latte Starbucks addiction didnt help.

How To Make A Chai Latte From Scratch

      This comforting tea is very simple to make right at home. Simply steep the black tea with spices and cinnamon. Once cooled, pour in your favorite milk and a touch of sugar for sweetness.;

    • Contain the spices: In a metal tea ball or a tea filter bag, add the fresh ginger, cardamom, and cloves. This will help keep them together when steeping.;
    • Boil the water: In a small saucepan, bring 2 cups of water to a boil using high heat. Once its boiling, remove it from the heat.
    • Steep the ingredients: To the hot water, add the black tea bag, cinnamon stick, and the ginger, cardamom, and cloves in the teabag. Stir together and let it steep for 5 minutes.
    • Assemble the chai latte: After the tea is steeped, remove the ingredients and stir in the milk. You can also use an immersion blender or stick blender to froth the milk while its hot. Serve hot or over ice with a dash of ground cinnamon.;
